Pac-Man (1982–1984)
Nostalgic...
21 April 2006
Warning: Spoilers
You know what really creeped me out about the "Pac-Man" cartoon? When he or Mrs. Pac-Man would get "eaten", they would deflate and get all weird and stuff... o_O There was this one episode where Pac-Man had already been attacked and he was all deflated and listless and the Ghost Monsters decided to attack him *again*! I was only 6 or 7 when I saw this and it really freaked me out.

Mesmeron... was completely useless and a waste of ink. I always wondered why the ghost monsters bothered with him.

However, the show had some good points. I like the Mrs. Pac-Man character more because it seemed her character had more depth. I also like the Pac cat and dog--always good for a laugh or two.

One thing that always bugged me was why the ghost monsters didn't just go and collect the Energizers without dealing with Pac-Man when the Energizers were so readily available...

Vagrant Story (2000 Video Game)
Incredibly Amazing
17 January 2006
This is the best game ever made for the PlayStation system, and arguably the best game ever made--period. The people at Squaresoft squeezed every ounce of graphic quality they could from the aging PS One to provide incredibly detailed and deep characters and a world as real as ours. The music is without par and provides an extra dimension that elevates and subdues the soul. From the beginning, to the final moments, this game delivers on every level. And, even after it's done, there are so many questions left unanswered that the game retains its playability value and draws one in over and over, trying to sort all its mysteries out. Why a sequel was never made is a paradox.

Without a doubt, one of the best cartoons of the '80s
29 December 2005
I always wondered what became of the Mighty Orbots. When I found out the show was canceled due to a stupid lawsuit concerning the extremely cheap and bottom of the bargain basement bin GoBots, I was very disappointed. I have fond memories of getting up early on Saturday mornings so I could enjoy the adventures of these Mighty Orbots. It was very well animated, and the plots kept you guessing at what would happen next. I also admired the nature of each of the Orbots' personalities. They weren't over-the-top, so it was easy to develop a bond with all of them. It definitely introduced a better quality of anime in the American market and this was apparent in the success of Robotech, Transformers and Voltron. Ironically, the GoBots tanked horribly and was always seen as a "poor man's" version of the Transformers. Maybe one day somebody will decide to re-release the Orbots or pick up the series again. At the very least, I hope that a DVD is forthcoming.

Torque (2004)
1/10
Horrible, horrible, horrible movie
7 November 2005
Warning: Spoilers
The movie gets one star purely out of default. Whoever finds this movie good probably still wears G.I. Joe pajamas and gets up early on Saturday morning with a heaping bowl of Fruit Loops. This movie is not only insulting to sports bike aficionados, it is offensive on every aspect of every measure of the human spectrum. It is pure trash and I wish I had never wasted those precious moments of my life that I spent trying to figure out what was going on. All the action scenes are ludicrous; the fight scenes play out like an episode of "Dragonball-Z" on bikes; and the acting is pure rubbish. The idiocy of this movie gives us such "classic" scenes as the good-girl/bad-girl bike battle near the end, where the aim it seems is to "out-bitch" the other. Then there is that moronic chase scene on the super-fast bikes that takes us through traffic-infested Downtown L.A. at about 300 mph. COME'ON! WHAT THE @#$% IS THAT? Arrrrgh!

Flash Forward (1995–1997)
Sensible, funny and always endearing
3 October 2005
Watching "Flash Forward" reminded me of the good things about my middle school and high school days, and made me laugh at some of the bad ones. I admired the sensibility of the actors, especially Jewel Staite, whose monologues were always delivered with the honest emotions of a teenager. I was pleasantly surprised to see her in the sci-fi film "Serenity," and for a while I could not remember where I had seen that face and that funny little voice. Then it came to me. It's nice to see that she's done great things after the success of "Flash Forward."

By the way, it's too bad that the show was canceled when it was. While many might bemoan that we missed out on seeing our beloved characters grow, I feel bittersweet about the cancellation of the show, personally. After all, people grow and change. However, we will always remember our good friends from "Flash Forward" as youthful and full of that inquisitive spirit that brings a smile to our face when we remember them.
