I never thought Steve Carrol could move me to tears
1 November 2022
This show had my full attention for all ten episodes and Steve Carrol had me moved to real heartfelt tears on multiple occasions with his brilliant acting. This was so delicately made and gripping I was feeling the anguish of Dr Strauss the whole way through. The actor who played Sam was also excellent and he made me feel incredibly anxious which was the whole point. This was not a relaxing watch it was quite stressful but a very clever plot and impressed that it held my attention the entire 10 episodes, I honestly didn't think they would be able to stretch the story out for that long but they did it beautifully with Dr Strauss' own internal struggles. A whole different way to look at a serial killer. Well done!

Beautifully respectful, delicately told
6 October 2022
This limited series was so respectfully and delicately put together I was so impressed, I feel they really did the victims of this horrible event justice. I hope they feel the same. The acting was so genuine and real that it broke my heart into pieces.

We have to talk about the actress Sri Ayu Jati Kartika who plays Luh. She embodied the unified broken hearts of the Bali people when the Bali bombings happened and how hard this was for them. My heart broke all over again and ached the whole time watching this through to the very end. Not just the victims of the bombing but the Bali people and everyone affected. This actress was so good I can't believe IMDB haven't even pictured her in here yet. She is brilliant. Her tears flowed so freely I wanted to break through the screen and give the poor woman a hug. So broken hearted. She truely embodied the worlds sentiment of such a horrid event.

Richard Roxburgh and Srisacd Sacdpraseuth and their performances to show the working bond between the two countries was beautifully delicate like a dance. So well done. These men behaved so amicably, if only the men at the top behaved this way!!!

Well done channel nine and Stan for putting this together it was beautiful.

Watch The Rescue to get the real story, this feels cheap
8 August 2022
I was so looking forward to this.

I have read Dr Harris's book and watched The Rescue 3 times because this story inspires me so much. That humans can do great things when they work together.

But this felt cheap and it felt like it was leaving out all the other amazing divers involved in the rescue.

Leaving out Harry's diving partner Craig felt wrong and the way they made it seem like they approved the whole thing quickly was a joke. Harry and Craig could have gone to Thai prison for taking the risks they did and Harry could have lost his licence. They just washed over all that like it was easy.

On the flip side there were parts in this that were beautifully done and moments where Ron Howard captured the humanity of this event and how department and terrifying the situation was for all involved. Moments that moved me to tears.

So still we'll worth watching but I highly recommend watching The National Geographic's The Rescue on Disney Plus to get a better understanding of what really went down. Then you will really appreciate what they actually achieved in spite of everything against them.

Prey (I) (2022)

Bloody loved it!! It stands on its own as a great film!

This stands on its own as an excellent story and I am so glad they didn't just copy the same storyline as the original with the mud and booby traps etc.

The lead actress in this was fantastic, the guys were a little weak (and their dialogue felt too 2022) I thought which is why I gave it an 8 and not a 9. Beautiful cinematography, the dog was awesome. Really solid plot. Better than any of Predators sequels and prequels by far. Absolutely loved it!

True heroes and such an uplifting watch!!!
11 January 2022
I read Dr Harris' book in 2 days and watched this the second I heard it was released. What an amazing group of humans. What an uplifting, exhilarating experience. I was in the journey with them the whole way though. I cried like a baby because I felt their fear and doubt amongst all the odds and risk. What a story!! So we'll told!! Well done!!

So disappointing because the story had potential.
23 February 2021
This was obviously cheap scripting and dodgy direction because it made even the normally good actors sound and look like they were overacting. At times Deborah mailman looked like she was horribly uncomfortable I think this was poor casting it didn't suit her. The poor acting made me cringe so bad I stopped watching a few times but I wanted to see it through so I watched it over 3 nights to 'get through it'. The main actor who plays Ethan was painful to watch, they picked the wrong guy. His overacting end inconsistency was annoying the forced character arc was very visible. They wasted Ryan Quanton on a rubbish character that made no sense. They should have made him the lead, at least he can act but you could tell even he struggled with the rubbish script. Next time they want to put their time into a movie they should spend more time on the script. With a story like this the script makes it or breaks it unfortunately. It could have been a great movie but instead it was frustrating to watch and I feel bad for the actors who signed up for it. The young Ethan was probably the best actor out of all the unknowns. But it was very hard to believe that he was the same character because the actors presented so so different it was incongruent.
