Who doesn't love it?
2 April 2009
Just great. At my age, it's fairly bizarre to enjoy a show this much considering it is primarily aimed at a demographic somewhere in their mid-80s but I must confess, this is just grand. For certain, what knocks this show out of the park for me is Noel Edmonds. He gets soooo into it. It's a show where average members of the public open boxes and yet he treats the show likes its God's gift to the world. His enthusiasm turns a frankly rubbish television show into very amusing, very tense and very watchable rubbish. Definitely a highlight in the history of Channel 4. I would recommend it to anyone (particularly those that have little, or no, dignity).

The Departed (2006)

Absolutely loved it
1 November 2008
Wow! One word that I uttered when the end of this film regretfully came. Though normally not a fan of this particular genre, I found myself absolutely captivated by the genius of Martin Scorsese. The Departed is nothing short of incredible with spectacular acting all round (I could give all the names of the great actors but frankly, there isn't enough time in a week). How this film didn't earn more Oscars (although Mark Wahlberg fully deserved his) is a complete mystery to me. Anybody who loves the kind of crime and gangster movies should watch this film and bathe in its brilliance. Anybody who doesn't love the genre should watch this film and wonder why they don't watch more films like it. In short - pretty damn good.

Easily my favourite film
5 February 2008
The Usual Suspects has been, since the first time I saw it my favourite film. No film I have ever seen or probably will ever see even comes close to its sheer brilliance. Featuring an all-star cast including Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Spacey and Stephen Baldwin, the Usual Suspects will have you captivated right from the start The thing I particularly enjoy about it is that you can watch it over and over again and keep noticing new, key features each and every time. My father put it absolutely brilliantly when he said 'When I got to the end, I rewound it back to the beginning and started again. With no other film have I ever done that.' The first time you see this film, you are slightly confused perhaps even frustrated but it just gets better and better every time I stick it into my DVD player.
