Rewatchable art

Warning: Spoilers
After watching the film and rethink the entire movie all over, the movie amazed me on how much hint was given in the film by the director, says a guy who knows the ending long before watching this film. While knowing the end gave a lot less mysterious factor, the film still manages to have me intrigued in the movie, this is how powerful the movie is.

Nothing is perfect, so is this Shutter Island. Towards the explanation part of the movie, some part in my mind is still quite unconvincing. The scene where Andrew Laeddis has a conversation with "Racheal Solando" in the cave is totally not real is kind of cheap, just make this fake, that's the easiest and effortless way to explain. Also, why not a single person accidentally speaks something they shouldn't say, there's no way that people in the entire island knows how Andrew's fictional story's every detail, let along there are military people on there, and they didn't even know him. Nevertheless, this is just a minor gripe.

Other than little flaws mentioned, this film is cleverly directed, executed and certainly well-acted. This is one of the if not the most rewatchable film ever. The film also shows huge resemblance to last year's awesome film "Get Out", and this film was made 8 years ago! This will honestly make me give"Get Out" less credit just because the existence of this one.

The Punisher (2004)

Plain

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't know this film exists until I saw it on sale in a DVD store, because of the film title, I decided to give it a look since the character appears in Daredevil season 2 as well as its own TV show, and that character is great. This movie incarnation on the other hand, feels plain.

The biggest issue I have in this film is core of the Punisher. In original comics and the TV version. Frank's family in the comics were killed during mob crossfires instead of planned homicide. And Frank's motive to become the Punisher is to prevent any other family in the city from the same tragedy that happened to his family by any means necessary, not vengeance. I do understand that any superhero film or action film need a super villain but change what makes the Punisher what he is in my opinion, just doesn't work. What he did in the film makes him even more villainous than the big bad.

No film is worthless, so is The Punisher. Even though I hated the whole payback thing, I do enjoy action scenes a lot and his roommates are very likable side characters.

Better than it could be

I wasn't expecting the film to be good, because I do not think Han Solo needs an origin story, we know this character's personality in the original trilogy already. Judging from the movie itself though, it's a pretty decent film. The characters are interesting, the plot doesn't have big problems, and there are a ton of references. As a Star Wars fan, I do believe I enjoy this film a lot more than those who aren't really into the franchise.

My biggest gripe however, comes down to the character portrayal of Han Solo in this film. He is too righteous in the film. In my opinion, Han Solo should be a selfish smuggler who does anything for himself only.

Overall, this film is pretty good. I'm glad that the movie expands the universe of Star Wars, it ties in a lot of stuffs in comics, cartoons and novels and move them to the big screen. Plus, I love the secret cameo in it. Hopefully he'll appear soon in upcoming movies. I'm so excited for his return. In the end, this is an enjoyable journey in a galaxy far far away.
