Far better than the previous chapter, Kickboxer: Retaliation delivers spectacular fun!
26 January 2018
The flick really surprised me. It contains some well-choreographed action scenes and the storytelling is very intense. Alain Moussi is a great choice as Kurt Sloan. The man is very skilled in martial arts and boy, this is visible on the screen. The whole cast is superb. I really liked the cameo of Ronaldinho and how he throw balls at Kurt Sloan. There are some quality fight scenes with Mike Tyson as well and JCVD is simply grea as Master Durand. His character is witty and well-written. Jean-Claude proves that he still got the moves! There are many MMA stars that appear in the movie as well and this powers the whole fun. What makes the flick utterly entertaining is the almost half an hour long final one on one scenes between Alain Moussi and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, a.k.a. the Moutain from Game of Thrones. This is arguably one of the most terrific one on one fighting scenes that I have recently watched. To wrap it all up, Kickboxer: Retaliation is not a perfect movie but it is more than satisfying and if you are a fan of the quality martial arts actioners, this one won't dissapoint you.

A high-octane masterpiece of an action flick
10 March 2017
It is an unwritten rule that in 8 out of 10 cases the following sequel to a successful movie can be a very risky business.

In truth, most of the times the sequels are not living to the expectations not only of its creators but which is worse, they disappoint the fans.

Here I am to remind you that luckily for us, the fans every rule has an exception.

"John Wick: Chapter 2" (2017) is a brilliant exception which not only lives to its high expectations but it arguably exceeds them.

Shortly after its release, the stylish Noe-noir flick received an average rating of 8.2/10 on IMDb and a score of 90% from 168 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Let's see who is responsible for that immense success…

Cast and Crew:

The movie is again directed by the debut ant Chad Stahelski who is a professional stuntman and this is only his second director's credit.

It is a curious fact that the talented director with a kickboxing background was one of Keanu Reeves' stunt doubles in The Matrix trilogy.

The star-packed cast includes Riccardo Scamarccio in the role of the villainous Santino D'Antonio and again Ian McShane as the Hotel manager Winston.

The gorgeous Ruby Rose ("Orange is the new black", "XXX: Return of Xander Cage") and the rapper turned actor Common are strikingly convincing as the professional assassins Ares and Cassian.

Peter Stormare as a Russian gangster, Lance Reddick as the Hotel receptionist, John Leguizamo and the living legend Franko Nero have also small but remarkable appearances in the film.

A pleasant surprise is Laurence Fishburne in the role of the powerful underground boss Bowery King who has an important part in John Wick's revengeful actions.

The writers of the movie didn't hesitate to make reference to "The Matrix" by giving both characters some lines similar to the ones in the masterpiece directed by the Wachowski brothers.

For instance, John Wick says to the Bowery King "I guess that you have a choice". If that doesn't ring a bell, then you will need to refresh your memory and watch again the dialogue between Neo and Morpheus.

This is a great action movie because:

The heart-pounding action starts with an insane car chase scene from the first second of the flick and it barely stops at the very end of the film.

I was totally blown away by the masterfully choreographed fight scenes and by the intensity of the plot.

It grabs you, it puts you right on the edge of your seat and then squeezes you only to leave you breathless and wanting for more.

Keanu Reeves trained Jiu Jitsu for four months to prepare for his role and he executes 90% of his stunts. The effect is visible-the character fits him perfectly.

The 53 years old actor is in great shape and shows spectacular weaponry and fighting skills.

His on-screen feud with Common (Cassian) leads to some stunning one on one fights between both characters. Be sure that you'll have some sweat drops on your forehead!

The cast is awesome and all the actors have done an impressive job, deserving applause for their genuine personifications.

Ian McShane, Riccardo Scamarccio and even Peter Stormare and Franko Nero, although their short presence as a Russian mobster and Italian Hotel owner, they all made memorable performances.

Also, it was great to see Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne acting together, the last time being 14 years ago in "The Matrix".

What makes "John Wick: Chapter 2" so enjoyable is not just the action. It is the whole haunting world of the professional assassins, all wearing expensive suits, which is represented in the movie.

The audience receives an alluring view towards the underground criminal world.

The viewer is entirely moved by the hit men's secret society, driven by a strict code of conduct and honor.

It is interesting to explore their hidden gathering places that are mostly fancy hotels in New York and Rome; the way they conduct their "business" by operating with terms like "contracts", "markers" and "deals".

The film is visually stunning, the action taking place in some spectacular venues in Rome and New York.

The special effects are present but almost invisible, making the whole feeling of the movie even more realistic.

The dialogue is minimalist and symbolical and the camera work is masterful.

There are several mind-blowing shooting scenes, taking place in the underground catacombs in Rome, where John infiltrates the celebratory party of Gianna- Santino's sister.

The other thing that grabbed my attention was the great soundtrack of the movie which perfectly fits the dark, intense atmosphere.

The OST composed mainly by Tyler Bates, Joel J. Richard, and DJ Ciscandra Nostalghia is a mixture of dance, house and explosive techno that electrifies the motion picture even more.

The breathtaking ending of the movie is opened, leaving us impatiently expecting the third, conclusive chapter of the trilogy.

John Wick 2 Movie Review in a Nutshell:

The second chapter of John Wick is a high-octane, adrenaline pounding roller coaster.

The stylish Noe-noir action flick maybe reminds a little bit of "Crank" (2006) with Jason Statham but it highly exceeds it in every aspect.

It is far better than the previous part from 2014 and with this ongoing upward trend, I can hardly imagine what the third part would be.

"John Wick: Chapter 2" has all it needs to deliver great fun and spectacular action-packed experience.

With some slight flaws, this is arguably one of the best action movies in the past decade. A must see!

Predator (1987)
10/10
Arnold at his best
26 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Get to DA chopper!" Here comes the Predator Movie Review you must read.

The Predator Movie ReviewEntertaining and unbelievably funny, this is a perfect "guy" movie and one of Arnold's best-known flicks. Director John Mctiernan's (you know "The Last Action Hero", don't you?) first interaction with Arnold is a great and very amusing sci if action with the thin plot and stiff acting that we all love so much.

The creators of the movie decided to keep it simple by putting the tough and pumped Austrian Oak in a jungle with a ridiculously looking and thirsty for blood ALF (Alien Life Form).

This ALF is a Predator, not so kind and nice as the tiny orange friend that we all know from the famous TV show. This one is hunting people for fun and sport.

However, as the tag line says, it has chosen the wrong man to hunt, baby!

The plot :

An elite team of commandos led by the extraordinary muscular build Alan "Dutch" Schaefer is sent on a mission in the jungle to rescue an important hostage who is held by a group of notorious criminals.

The supposed to be easy mission quickly turns into a bloody nightmare when a creepy alien landed in the jungle sees the commandos as an excellent earth food. The hunt is on but when Arnold is in the picture it is often not so clear who is the hunter and who is the prey…

The Cast:

I'm sorry guys but there aren't many beautiful ladies shining in the movie, except Elpidia Carrillo (it is totally OK if this name doesn't ring a bell).

She is one tough of a female commando, named Anna who kills people just as mercilessly as their male colleagues do.

Carl Weathers (mainly known from the "Rocky" franchise), as well as the famous wrestler, turned actor Jesse Ventura are the other popular actors who support Arnold in this amazing horror-adventure movie.

This is a Funny Action Movie because:

Again, it is so funny to watch Arnold, this time in the role of Dutch. I have to admit that I love the part where Arnold meets Carl Weathers who plays Dillon- his partner in action and they both grab each other to shake hands. The hilarious one-liner that follows is "Dillon, you son of a bitch!"

In that moment the camera shows us the huge, no, gigantic, no, immense biceps of Dutch and stays like that for a few seconds. No woman in the world would understand this manly scene filled with testosterone!

Another memorable scene is near the end of the film where the Alien's face is unmasked and Arnold gathers all his remaining strength to cry out with a funny face- "You are one ugly bad creature" This is legendary.

The writers have created a script full of ridiculous one-liners suitable for Arnold's stiff tone of voice and the final result is more than satisfying. Don't believe me?! Just watch again the "Get to the chopper" scene where the former Mr. Olympia screams while making funny face moves. Once again, this is legendary.

Sure enough, the movie is full of the usual goofs and mistakes from which almost no movie can escape.

Conclusion:

"The Predator" is a superb, action packed roller coaster. It is engaging, thrilling and will keep you at the edge of your seat. Sometimes it will make your body shake from laughter.

I am more than curious to see the upcoming sequel, directed by Shane Black ("Iron man 3", 2013) which is expected to hit the big screen in 2018.

Early, raw, excellent version of young Arnold
26 December 2016
o you know why Arnold is flexing? Because this is the first ever film starring the then- aspiring bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger. In fact, this is the only thing that he is doing the right way in the whole movie-flexing.arnold is flexing

Arnold's debut motion picture is a raw and hilarious representation of the young version of one of the most successful men in the world.

Schwarzenegger's evident lack of on- screen experience make this movie looks more like a documentary on bodybuilding.

But first things first.

The plot:

Taking place back in 1970 when Arnold is still an adolescent, the movie tells us the story of the powerful gods of Olympus- the home of the Greek Gods.

The plot centers more on the life of Zeus and mostly on his son Hercules (guess from the first time, which Austrian oak took the role).

The young Hercules is spending his glorious but boring adolescence in Olympus- a kingdom far above the clouds among his divine family. One day he decides to disobey his father's will and escapes to earth.

There, he is starting to explore things he has never experienced before- he falls in the trap of love and he struggles to become an undisputed bodybuilding champion.

The cast:

What cast?! Only Arnold is important here. He is also the only known name in the production.

In fact, by the time, he was only a young bodybuilder who was trying to make his way to the Hollywood top, just like many other aspiring actors with a certain amount of self-esteem.

This is a Funny Action Movie because:

Like previously noticed, this is the first Arnold movie ever! He is so inexperienced in acting that you risk to have shortness of breath from laughter while watching the young Austrian desperately trying to be an actor.

Originally, Schwarzenegger's voice was dubbed because he barely spoke English at the time. Later, however, when the DVD version was released, his own voice was included in the movie.

It won't be far from truth to state that once the DVD version of the film was released, it gained international success. It is just my personal opinion here but I believe that it is due to the fact that then, for the first time, the world heard Arnold's legendary and ridiculous Austrian accent. And that changed everything.

The plot is so primitive, the directing so poor and the acting so bad that it hurts. The whole movie is a complete nonsense from the beginning to the very end.

It is like someone decided on Tuesday to make a movie and on Wednesday it was all wrapped up and ready to be on screen.

The cast is disturbingly inappropriate and the acting is pathetic.

But wait!

Isn't it exactly what we are looking for? That's right. That is the whole idea of it.

It is a sick fun and be sure that it is enjoyable. Arnold's accent is terribly hilarious and God forbid, don't watch this movie dubbed!

Just experience Arnold crying out like a five year old retarded child "I am Hercules" a thousand times or "No man is superior to Hercules". The accent, combined with his funny face moves can easily make you go into spasms of laughter.

Make sure that you don't miss the part at the beginning of the movie when he complains to his mighty father Zeus that he is "tired of the zame old zings, the same old facezz".

At this time, you won't be sure if by the end of the movie Hercules will become bodybuilding champion but somehow you feel that he will definitely win the "who got the most ridiculous accent" competition.

The funniest part is when Hercules is walking on the street along with his hot date and spots a bodybuilding competition poster with some tough man on the cover.

He immediately goes angry and jealous. With the blink of an eye, he tears up his tight t-shirt and starts flexing his giant muscles in order to prove to his girlfriend that his is the God of the gym. He moves like a wounded panda. It is truly spectacular to observe.

Another great scene is the scene with the bear. The extraordinary muscular Schwarzenegger takes his girl on a romantic carriage ride. All of a sudden, a bear comes out of nowhere and stands in front of the carriage roaring loud and menacing the lives of the couple in love.

What do you think happens?

Arnold jumps off the carriage and starts a spectacular one on one fight with the bear. I won't put spoilers here. I would just mention that the animal activists might get angry.

During the whole movie Arnold's expressionless gaze and stiff acting are combined with the boring and inappropriate soundtrack, dramatically dull actors and poor directing. The dialogue is also very, very bad.

Conclusion:

Not only this is a must-see movie but if you ask me, it even should be included in your bucket list right after the "parachute diving" check off.

Seriously, this gem perfectly serves its purpose-to distract you, to make you feel good and to make you laugh no matter if you are an Arnold Schwarzenegger fan or not.

Very funny flick which is definitely worth your time
26 December 2016
Introduction:

Who the king is? Arnold is the king of the show!

It is the year 1987. Ronald Reagan rules the USA, Andy Warhol quietly dies after giving a brand new notion of "modern art". Oliver Stone's war masterpiece "Platoon" wins the Oscar award for best motion picture of the year.

Meanwhile, Arnold Schwarzenegger continues his glorious forward march in Hollywood, by participating in the blockbuster "The Running Man", initially conceived by the rich imagination of Richard Bachman, a.k.a. the master of horror Stephen King.

In fact, the sci-fi action film, directed by the famous TV director and actor Paul Michael Glaser ("Starsky and Hutch") is far from being a horror flick. Moreover, a movie starring the ludicrous Arnie can hardly be given a different definition from comedy or parody. Or at least it looks that way.

The plot:

Following the eponymous novel by Stephen King, the plot tells the story of the wrongly convicted for a massacre Ben Richards who is forced to participate in a highly popular reality show on TV, called "The Running man".

In this show, convicted criminals are given the opportunity to fight for their freedom. In order to achieve that, they must face different "stalkers"-men who hunt them all over the city with various deadly weapons. One must admit that the director has put successful efforts in his desire to recreate the futuristic, catastrophic and totalitarian society, developed by Stephen King.

The Cast:

The beautiful Maria Conchita Alonso in the role of Amber Mendez, the two celebrated ex-wrestlers Jesse Ventura as Captain Freedom and Professor Toru Tanaka as Subzero as well as Jim Brown, probably the most glorious NFL player ever in the role of Fireball, are among the most famous names in the cast.

This is a Funny Action Movie because:

Without any doubt, all eyes are on Arnold who once again steals the show and it is because of him that the film is so successful and laughable. There are plenty of unintentional comic moments featuring "the Austrian Oak" and we are all sure that the director didn't cut them on purpose. After all, the key to a successful Arnold movie is just to let the guy be himself in front of the camera.

arnold running man

The comedy starts at the very beginning of the movie where Arnold is driving a chopper and when the crew attacks him, he starts with his moaning, which sounds like coming from a wounded panda. The famous "Aaaargh" is back again, and combined with his unbelievable Austrian accent and funny face moves, will definitely make you laugh.

No need to mention the huge, almost unnatural muscular physic, that makes him look like a sweet debil. His muscularity and inhuman strength are demonstrated in the scene where he is easily carrying an enormous metal branch.

Funnily, the scene reminds the one from "Commando", where Arnold is carrying a huge stump, all sweaty and with his biceps about to explode. He is just like a bodybuilder and at some moment, he is wearing a t-shirt with a stamp "World Gym". At this precise moment, I paused the movie and went to hit the iron by doing bench press push-ups.

When our character is already in the reality show, he wears a ridiculous and tight yellow circus outfit, which makes him look even more retarded.

Enough credits for Mr. Olympia.

The so-called "stalkers" or the hunters who chase him also look very pathetic. Their costumes and unreal weapons make them look like little children who act in a school play and expect a candy from their parents in the end. Here, it is important to mention the "trying to be sinister" Dynamo who is dressed with dozens of luminous bulbs, just like a Christmas tree.

In general, Arnie easily kills all stalkers and a smart line follows every killing to underline his supremacy.

And how the heck it is possible to be in 1987 and to consider that in 2017 the cassettes will still be the main way of listening to music?

Conclusion:

The movie is full of dumb humor and sometimes, absurd lines, like the celebrated "I will be back". Arnold's acting is hilarious and wooden and the director pays homage to the feet fetish, showing Maria Conchita Alonso's beautiful legs in a pantyhose. So, enjoy! There is something for everybody.

With a budget of 27 000 000 $ "The Running Man" is for sure worth watching, especially if you are a die-hard Arnold fan and a Stephen King admirer.

Oh, and beware that you will probably feel the burning desire to go to the gym to pump your muscles.

Commando (1985)

Superb Commando Movie
26 December 2016
A Commando movie? Here it is! Wow! A great one! Just look at the tagline. A huge achievement in the "funny action movie" genre with a mind blowing budget of 10 000 000 $.a commando movieDirector Marc L. Lester known for such classics in the genre as the Stephen King's adaptation "Firestarter","Showdown in little Tokyo" and much more, has done a great job , helping Arnie to show all of his potential in this blasting roller coaster .

There aren't any known names in the cast, to draw your attention off from Arnold, like for example Sharon Stone does in "Total Recall".

The Plot:

The plot is far from original but this is not so important, simply because only a retard would expect deep character development and story narrowing like in the "Godfather".

Arnold is John Matrix, a very tough badass (what do you expect) and retired elite Commando who lives a peaceful live in the forest until one day several pricks kidnap his little daughter in order to blackmail him to lead a revolution and to give the power back to an evil dictator.

This is a Funny Action Movie because:

From the first scene in which Arnold appears, you have to be impressed by his strength and the shape of his muscles. The guy is walking in the forest and carrying a gigantic tree on his shoulder, looking like a lethal killing machine. Basically, in every scene he is beating his chest and screaming "I am the bodybuilding itself".

Basically, in every scene he is beating his chest and screaming "I am the bodybuilding itself".

And it really looks like Arnie is shooting the film between his chest training breaks. He's full of protein, testosterone and ready to explode. It is very funny when he is cutting woods as well, or when he is naked and playing with his beloved daughter in the river. How sweet Daddy he is! It is a bit like watching Rambo feeding little puppies.

The dialogue is so hilarious and dumb that you keep thinking that some 5-year-old kid is the screenwriter. Mr. Schwarzenegger's acting is as stiff as usual, so you definitely won't be disappointed.

There are plenty of ridiculous lines as well. For instance, when John Matrix promises to a bad guy that he will kill him last but he kills him before the others (because of the steroids washed his brain) by throwing him off of a rock, this goes like this "Remember, Matrix, when you told me that you will kill me last. " With a cold look on his rocky face, Matrix confesses "I lied!!!!!!" and throws him away. Of course, this line is shaped with a significant amount of hilarious Austrian accent.

Happily, there are plenty of such lines like for example "Right? –"Wrong" as is the answer of Arnold after shooting one poor bad guy in the stomach and he dies, being probably the 345th victim of the cold-blooded Commando.

The grand finale of the movie can make you feel pain in the cheeks from laughing while you are questioning yourself "How one could make such a movie and meant it to be serious?!" John Matrix is shooting with a machine gun in the dictator's quarters and kills approximately a thousand of mercenaries without even a scratch on his body.

Conclusion:

You need to be ashamed if you love the Arnold flicks and you've missed this one. It is one of his best and definitely worth your time if you want to make a six-pack without doing even one exercise.

Go watch it and tell me what do you think about it after your laughing spasms stop! If they do.
