Scams, Schemes, and Scoundrels (1996)
A Fun History of Extravagant Scams
21 February 2015
Narrated by Uri Geller's nemesis and Harry Houdini cover act the Amazing (quite so) Randi... the doc takes a tour through some of the most bizarre accounts of successful con-artistry in the last 3 centuries. That dude who sold the Eiffel Tower (twice) despite not even owning it, rogue doctors hawking pseudo-medical woo machines and finally the genius of Joey Skaggs who uses scams to make a point about the gullibility of media journalists, and their dreamy wide-eyed audiences (us). I found it hilarious at times and also informative as a lecture on how not to get scammed, as well as, if you so desire, how to scam others. ;)
