Willa Fitzgerald is solid here as a stressed out resident. I liked her in Reacher but she didn't match up physically with Alan Ritchson. It was very distracting because she looked like a teenage woman against Ritchson's uber alpha male. It was weird (lol). In Pulse, she carries the show in a believable way as an overwrought, overworked resident in a big urban hospital. I never watched ER or Gray's Anatomy but I did watch Chicago Med and I feel Pulse doesn't quite measure up to that medical drama. However, it IS binge worthy and entertaining after a long day at work. I really dislike the use of so many flashbacks though. It was very confusing!
I was hoping Season 2 would develop Mo Najiar instead of defaulting to his angry victim mode. Season 1 set up the characters nicely and I was hoping to see them grow and evolve. Mohammed Amer seems to think yelling and contorting his face makes for good acting but it does not. The supporting cast including Maria, Nick, Hameed, Chien and Lizzie were very good. I felt like Season 2 was a wasted opportunity. Wish someone had reined in Mohammed's acting and the other supporting characters had more screen time. Apparently there is no Season 3 which is a good decision because I don't think there was more to be shown story-wise.
I was sad to learn that Bosch will end after this year's season. I didn't know anything about On Call...in just popped up on Prime Video and I took a chance. This show is so impressive and even more so because it's a 30 minute format. The ensemble cast is excellent. I don't remember the last time I wrote a ten star review. It certainly captures the gritty Bosch SoCal vibe but more importantly, it hits the trifecta. #1 good writing, #2 solid acting, #3 consistent direction and tone. No word if there is a season 2 but I can't imagine it wouldn't be renewed. I would highly recommend this show and hope it gets the kudos it deserves!
