Ghost Rider (2007)
No words.
Plot is cheesy, visual effects so so. How did they spend so much money into this movie and still does not have any sense? Why Nicolas Cage accepted to play this role. He is one of my favorite actors. Look at the movies he has done. The Rock, 8mm and so many others and then what? He makes this movie? What the hell is happening. Maybe for a Ghost rider Fan point of view this movie is good but for me it was not. It was cheesy all the way through , no suspense, not a real cool action sequence. I mean look at the movie BLADE, that is an action movie based on a great hero. How the hell did they spend 110.000.000 dollars budget on GHOST RIDER? I rate it 5 and not 3 only because I love Nicolas Cage too much AS AN ACTOR and he still did a decent job in this movie but...rather than this the movie for me it is not OK.
Handy (2013)
a 10.000 dollars movie that still looks good.
OK, I am not a fan of Fantasy movies...but this is not a fantasy movie or...maybe it is. I still don't know what is the genre of this movie honestly. I will write what I know. I think it is innovative, it is challenging. It is brave. I could not believe that it was made with such a small budget. The visual effects could have been better but it is also true that this guy made the entire movie by himself, he covered all the roles in the movie because he didn't have the budget to make this movie. I saw this film in a festival in Portugal and I could not talk with him in person but I wanted to. I was there for the Q&A though when he was speaking. I didn't have the chance to ask him about the movie but I wanted to understand why he wanted to make this movie as his first feature film. Could have not been better to make something simpler? I am not considering the budget of the movie here otherwise I had to give it a 10/10 for what he accomplished. Instead I gave it a 7 because there are some parts of the movie that were not clear to me, it was going too fast sometimes. As I said, it is innovative. Maybe too much? I need the movies to be slower sometimes, that is just the way I am. I need to see this movie again but I don't know where because it is not released yet. One thing is sure, he made something really out of the box and I loved the fact that the hands looked like human beings, the way they were behaving and acting. Really impressive on this side. This movie has also a strong message. It could have been a bit shorter toward the end but as I said before I need to watch it again. The photography was good too, not perfect all the way through but he had really amazing shots like when he travels the world. Plus I love Sicily because I always go there on vacation. I will come back and rate it again after I watched it again if I will ever find it. I need to be sure before give it a 8 or more.
Seven Pounds (2008)
I cried like a baby
First time I saw this movie I gave it a 8, now I give it a 10. The why is simple, I could finally see this movie with subtitles and understand it in all his meanings. The cinematography is AMAZING, all the shots are perfect and they are perfectly married with a great soundtrack that makes this movie a real masterpiece. Usually I don't write reviews but this movie pushed me to write one. Today I had 1 hour free so I wanted to express how much I loved it when I saw it again last week. Will Smith deserves a Oscar, I don't know when but he will get one. He can cover ALL THE ROLES. The director made a great job too, I think he is Italian but I am not sure. The only thing I would have sped up a bit was the editing, sometimes the movie had to be sped up because it was going too slow but I mean, we are talking about little details here. As I said, this movie is amazing and it touched all the right cords.
A Beautiful Mind (2001)
a movie that moved me a lot
Russel Crowe here gives one of the best performances ever. I liked also the tiny visual effects used, in a very gentle way. Especially the math scenes. All the other actors played very well but Russel gave a real meaning to entire film. The music was amazing. Cinematography could be stronger. The editing was perfect. The movie fascinated me about the life of this man, and I sought more information, finding that for many years he was a recluse, wandering the campus, talking to no one, drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes, paging through piles of newspapers and magazines. The ending...oh my God the ending was amazing. His final speech is the real meaning of love.
Rush (2013)
perfect
One of the best sport movies I have ever seen, the editing is a masterpiece and the acting is just perfect. Nothing to add. Amazing. The story of Lauda is terrific. I have been waiting for this movie for such a long time. It would have been easy to fall into cheesy campy film making with this plot.... But somehow it felt, as a viewer, that you were actually a fly on the wall watching a friendship form in an authentic, organic fashion. The timing of their meeting felt pre-ordained, like something bigger or higher was putting them together at the right time. I loved the religious undertones. Real without shoving it in your face. But faith portrayed as something that provides hope and encouragement, is real and worth having.
