Monella (1998)
Not as advertised
Film scenes cut. If they are going to charge, then tell customers the film has been cut. Let them then make up their minds weather or not they want to purchase the film. There are other films I would like to purchase, but do not want to waste my money and be disappointed. This is especially true when viewing classic films that are out of print and can not be purchased elsewhere. It is a shame that they butcher these films up to the point that a viewer can not follow the plot and the film no longer makes sense. This has happened more than once and seems that AMAZON is practicing their own brand of censorship. If Amazon thinks there is something that would offend the viewer could be warned up front or have the film rated in more than one classification.
Srpski film (2010)
A film within a film
This is a movie about the making of another movie, one of the porn genre. Despite all of the comments about the various scenes, there are no penetration scenes, very little real male genitalia (what is shown is prosthetics) and numerous women in various stages of nudity. As far as the gore scenes, the director leaves it to the viewer's imagination to assume the worst case scenario.
IMHO, this film is an anti-porn film. It shows the darker side of the porn business and the lengths people will go to, to sate the desires which normal porn can not satisfy.
It touches on all the stories you and I have heard about porn. People are in it for the money and/or drugs and the inability to break away from the porn industry and go straight. As the industry is always looking for fresh faces, the older porn actors/actresses must do things they would not normally do to earn some money.
The porn industry continually looks to reinvent itself. If you have enough money and know the right people, there is probably nothing (outside of snuff films)that can't be made. This film shows what could possibly happen in a country where there are no controls and life is cheap.
Definitely a dark film and not for everybody.
Siete días siete noches (2003)
Interesting Film
As a previous poster alluded to, I don't believe the subtitles accurately conveyed what was being said on screen. The plot is initially hard to follow and know where the film is going. But, after some of the characters get fleshed out, you can understand what the film is trying to convey.
Some of the minor characters seem to be over the top in their character's portrayal. However, I have had the opportunity to live in and be around the Hispanic community enough to know people who are like those in the film.
This film is a gritty look at the conditions in Cuba, especially for those in the lower economic strata. Two of the main characters are people of the streets who must make personal sacrifices to survive. My opinion is the director shot the film like he did, to give viewers a sense of what the conditions are really like in Cuba. The film is not some slick Hollywood production, which might put a lot of viewers off. If you, like me, want to watch films that are not mainstream and make you think, then give this film a chance.
Eruadye Muniz steals the film and I would like to see her in some films with higher production values.
Blue Seduction (2009)
Not worth the time
This movie was totally misleading in it's title. What surprises me is that it is being rated "MA" by the cable channel that is showing it. I have seen more action in a PG-13 movie than appears in this film.
The story about a fallen idol battling demons when he tries a comeback has been done before and done much better. The dialog was terrible. The acting is little better than an amateur film. Billy Zane sleepwalks through the whole picture.
Despite what another reviewer said about being tested and getting good results, I have to believe they were either high or drunk when viewing the film. They could not have seen the same film I viewed.
The film only had a $1.6 million budget, filmed in Canada for TV and there are no box office stats available. I suspect the reason for that is it went straight to DVD.
Aliens Gone Wild (2007)
One of the best skin flicks on late night cable
Just watched this on Cinemax. Lots of skin and is very raw. A bit more than the standard soft core you see on late night cable. The women are stunning, not the tatted up stripper kind that seem to be in more and more of the Hollywood soft core flicks. Enough nudity and sex to please even the most ardent skin flick fan. The film seems to have a Zalman King feel to it.
The plot, if you're interested, is that aliens have come to earth to find the chosen one in preparation for an invasion to take control of the earth. And how do you find the chosen one? Have sex with earthlings and report back to the mother ship. Of course the Government gets involved and is monitoring all of the sex.
The Devil in Miss Jones (2005)
Well worth the money
This is one of the best pure porn movies to come out in the last few years. It takes the story of the original and puts some nice twists in it while keeping some of the original dialog. Savanna Samson play Miss Jones and is very competent in her portrayal. Jenna Jameson plays the Devil. If you get the 3 disk set, there are a lot of extras, including the original Devil in Miss Jones.
Paul Thomas makes the remark on the bonus disk that if you took the sex out of this movie it could be shown in regular mainstream theaters. And he is right. Ms. Samson delivers her lines as well as any actress in mainstream films. It is too bad a lot of people will not see this film because of the sex scenes.
If you cut the sex scenes enough to be shown on Max, HBO or Showtime it would tend to weaken the picture and not make the statement the director intended. So the only chance to see this film will probably be if you buy it or borrow it from a friend.
If nothing else be sure to watch the last major scene shot in a S & M type surrounding. Ms. Samson's willingness to go above and beyond what might be required of her will surprise you and blow your mind, (no pun intended).
