Good Night Oppy (2022)

More than just a rover, but an opportunity to shine beautiful human spirits in one of the greatest mission from NASA

This story is following the life of Opportunity, or MER-B - an Mars mission rover and its sister rover Spirit. But also tells the stories behind the technology, engineering and numerous moments where we almost lost faith of a distant robot who has to overcome all hardships, dilemmas, severe environments of alien world, unexpected scenarios, etc. Those stories shines the greatest virtue of humankind - the wisdom, persistence and hope.

I am one of the many, who followed the landing of Spirit and Oppy on 2004 when as a child, and got inspired by it all the way till today, and proudly say that astronomy became my serious hobby and ultimate dream, and becomes part of my life.

This documentary is faithful to the real events, with very touching story telling techniques and put the spotlight on the human-side of this rover. I must say I am attached to this cute yet persistent robot from bottom of my heart.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022)

Inside the crude and metal look of a cyberpunk, lives a young and soft HUMAN heart

In this dystopia world where everything is extravagant but rotten and dispirited, people are putting powerful machines to their bodies to be strong and cruel. Hopes and dreams are just two words that do not exist in the dictionary.

In a dark gutter, a young kid is trying everything he has, just to live up the hopes and dreams of the people he loves.

So we see this young kid grow up, as a man, as a team leader. So we walk thru the thrills of countless dirty fights, and agony of losing partners.

And in the end, he stands still in his broken body, having no fear but only sorry for missing the future. No words can better describe this spirit better then that song goes: "A real human being, and a real hero".

I Am What I Am (2021)

An easy to understand and yet powerful anime movie

The Music/Songs: There are many original songs composed for this movie, they fit in each scenes very well and resembles the emotion correspondingly. I appreciate those songs even better by reading the lyrics, those words came from down-to-the-earth people's lives and reflects ordinary people's fighting spirit when they denying their destinies.

The screen shots/storyboard: Since this is an anime movie, there are many astonishing scenes with soothing great nature, or powerful actions, or emotional twists of our protagonist's life. I love how these are written down as cut-scenes and directed by the director, and eventually how they are presented in the movie.

Many scenes touched me in the heart.

Traditions, nostalgia and culture: You can get the awe-inspiring scenery from a Chinese traditional village, their life styles in the 90's and the beautiful nature. And you also get the cold and the ruthless from arising big cities where the poor are struggling with lives. These are the common memories of a whole generation.

Tiger dancing is a tradition that comes down from many generations before us but is also fading away with modernization of China. Here you can feel both the passion and sorrow from this transition.

The plot: It's really an easy story, there is no sideways to understand the plot and I think this makes this movie a no-brainer to recommend to anyone who wants to learn a little more about a Chinese tradition and an inspiring story of a child who defies his weakness and stands up as a man.
