Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
Not amazing but very good and well worth a watch
Enjoyable movie, it's taken a lot of influences from, seven samurai, Star Wars, dune, GoT and a few more, (it's even got the cantina scene close to the start). Im ok with that, most good shows take influence from previous good shows.
I feel this could have been a 10 episode series rather than 2 movies. What it suffers from is we dont see enough of the main characters backgrounds and I found myself not caring too much about any of them apart from the main girl.
Still a thoroughly enjoyable watch though.
What this did confirm for me is how good the original Star Wars movies are nearly 50 years after they were made.

If you've not watched Rebels don't watch this
Im enjoying this but it could be better, more importantly if you want to enjoy this you need to have seen The Clone Wars and Rebels. There are so many details that will not make sense unless you know those shows.
I preferred the fun Ashoka from Clone Wars and would enjoy that version so much more compared to this older haunted Ashoka. I do understand that she is now carrying a lot of guilt from walking away from Anakin and has lost her youthful innocence, plus she was like this in Rebels.
This show needed to be made to conclude Rebels but I think it would be better served as Rebels series 5 and Ashokas own show should have been when she was younger, she would have been much more likeable had they stuck to the Clone Wars version, I don't really warm to her in this show.
As with Boba and Obi Wan series I wanted to see them in their peak not when they are beaten down and feel they are 3 missed opportunities.
The shows are still good though and worth watching.

Aw no! They've gone all political 😞
This show was brilliant at the start, me and my family really cared about all the characters and the teams results. It was emotional and funny.
We l oved season 1, enjoyed season 2 nearly as much. Season 3 is still good (I'm only up to episode 8) but they've gone way over the top with the politics.
It's a such a shame and it's quite annoying to watch those bits. It also feels like they've just stuck these moments in to preach their views rather than it being part of the story.
Hopefully it will tie in to a good ending but so far I feel they've lost their way with this which is a real shame.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Missed opportunity
Firstly I'm glad Disney brought Star Wars back, they have done well overall. Us fans are a highly expectant, critical bunch, so it's tough job.
Secondly, episodes 1-3 are pretty rubbish and should have been one episode, 4-7 get better so stick with it.
It is a missed opportunity though, a Boba story pre ANH would have been so much better than this. I would have loved to see him in his prime, crossing paths with Bossk/Greedo/IG88/Ponda/Zuchass etc. Smuggling for Jabba avoiding the Empire, maybe even tying the story into the Solo movie or the early rebal alliance somehow.
Instead we get an old man version of Boba who survived of the sarlacc battered and bruised, lost his armour, was saved by Tuskens, gets them all killed then goes in search of revenge.
He then decides to take over Jabbas crime empire but do it in a nice way with a gang of 3, he is made a fool of by the local mayor and his assistant, he's not at all menacing or gritty and is unlikely to be taken seriously by the scum and villainy of Tatooine.
Not the Boba we expected.
Should have left him dead in RTJ.

Excellent series
Wanted to wait till I watched all episodes before commenting on this. What a great series. The best thing Disney have done since Rogue One. Solo was brilliant, I liked the new skywalker saga, mandalorian had some great episodes but also had some pointless fillers. Obi wan got good towards the end and Boba Fett was a missed opportunity in my opinion (I would have preferred it to be before ANH and included all the other bounty hunters we know plus Jabba etc).
This is a great story, a gritty backstreet Star Wars story that fits in nicely with the movies. I love the rebel alliance having to do some bad things for the greater good and I loved seeing the empires backroom political scumbags. If you want CGI lightsaber battles this is not for you, if you want to know more about the foundations of the rebel alliance this will be right up your street.
Looking forward to the next series.
Well done Disney, you've done a good job since you brought Star Wars. We are very opinionated bunch with high expectations. I only wish you made more of the pre ANH Boba Fett/ bounty hunter/ Jabba world.

Brilliant! I wonder if Ricky Gervais based the office on this?
This is really good if you're a sad geek like me! Full of stuff you won't see in the usual documentaries and I really enjoyed it.
Also it's actually quite funny in the sense that the cast could have come straight from Extras.
If this had been made before The Office I would be convinced Ricky Gervais based it on this.
