Strange new agenda?
1 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I really tried to like this latest incarnation of Star Trek. It has left a whole lot to be desired.

First there's the nastiness of one of the female crew (thank goodness she finally left).

Star Trek is supposed to be about intelligence and human evolvement; it is in the future after all and it was Gene Roddenberry's vision!

But the last straw, in the last episode of this 1st season, is that 'Captain Kirk' looks nothing like William Shatner! He doesn't even have blond hair! Surely they could get someone who looks even a little like Shatner. We are supposed to believe this new actor is Kirk, but no, he doesn't even have any similar mannerisms. Surely they could get someone, ANYONE, who looks like Shatner.

Paul Wesley? He looks more like Dick York/Darrin Stephens from Bewitched. Skinny, dark hair, with no charisma whatsoever, so, so, so unlike William Shatner as James Kirk. Whoever cast this actor should be fired!

Vic Mignogna (from ST: Continues) would've made a far better James Kirk, he has channelled Shatner perfectly.

There seems to be some sort of crazy agenda to derail this timeless series.

At least us die-hard fans have all the previous series to relish.

All I can say is thank heavens for Picard, even if it is a limited series.

Great production! Perfectly cast!

There is every type of character, every type of human situation with the decisions they make and all with so much depth - true to life. I could see myself in some of the characters. Brilliant! Deserves awards in every category! Suranne Jones is fabulous and Sophie Rundle matches her effortlessly. As does everyone, in fact. Relevant to any time period, although some things have improved but I hope to see them improve even further.

Lost and Delirious
21 December 2019
One reviewer here mistakenly compared this to Dazed and Confused, when in fact it's nothing like that - I'm sure the reviewer meant Lost and Delirious (2001) with Piper Perabo. Anyway, it is still no comparison, Lost And Delirious is an outstanding film and one I find difficult to watch because of the raw emotion it evokes; but I'm digressing. This film is quite engaging some of the time, a little confusing, and a little strung out to the point of tedium. But, overall a fairly interesting movie.
