Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Obnoxious music, boring dialogue, ridiculous story
I adore the original, watched it countless times over the years. I love sci fi, but in 2049 they expect us to believe replicants to reproduce... Twits
The female characters seems to be stereotypically tough to be politically correct.
The music is is not music, it's more like feedback on an amplifier. The original Vangelis score is still futuristic sounding and brilliant.
Goslin pretty much plays the same persona in everything but he is likeable.
Letto is like a boring accountant.
7500 (2019)
Incredibly tense drama
I was gripped, I was sweaty at the end as I was feeling nervous about the outcome, the hostage deaths seemed so bloody curdingly realistic.
Chernobyl (2019)
I went to Chernobyl / Pripyat in 2008 so I have always been educated in the events. This drama series is like Band of Brothers. Essential watching
I'm English born in 1975 and I remember the events. I used to watch the China syndrome before it happened and have visited the visitor centers in nuclear power plants in the UK before I went on a Chernobyl tour so have always been fascinated by nuclear power. This show, like band of brothers and other real life based dramas Chernobyl is essential viewing by people now and generations to come to learn from and see that real life can be scarier than a horror film. Im now on episode 4 as I write this and the realism is harrowing and breathtaking. The hospital scenes in episode 3 freaked me to the point had I watched this before my trip in 2008 I'd have second thoughts about going. But I did go and it was a fascinating day in the zone by reactor building 4 before the new containment enclosure was built and saw pripyat. The drama shows the human side of the people who lived in pripyat, the horrors the emergency services, public and liquidators and miners encountered. It can be difficult viewing but it's essential viewing. Great work done by crew, writer and director.
Animal lovers should know too that the zone is full of wildlife now and there are hundreds of cats and dogs now which come up to you and are friendly
The Watchman (2016)
disappointing
3 out of 10. for Stephen Graham's performance which is always stellar. the rest of this TV drama was rubbish though. the family he had were of no significance and annoyingly distracting, the thugs you just wanted Stephens alter ego from This Is England to unleash itself and unleash wrath on the teenager oiks. plus with all the footage he had of the deals, of the drugs bag, of the car license plates etc, going to the scene of his friends capture himself made no sense to me. Or why his character felt it necessary to return a bag to stop a teenaged oik who was involved in drugs from getting hurt. a lot of this drama had lots of plot holes imho.
