Brilliant

I can't believe this movie has low ratings as compared to high quality content. Some of the worst movies I have ever seen have ratings more than 7.

What a socially relevant movie with good songs, emotions, a different kind of a story and tearjerker at times.

If I look back at Rajesh Khanna movies, it was tow prominent points - 1. Heroine oriented and yet he shines. 2. Content is mostly family driven, even romantic movies could be watched along your family. Of course there were exceptions like Red Rose.

The songs are really beautiful and the whole movie will involve you in a sense as if it is not happening on screen but around you.

Kudos to makers and cast for such a socially relevant yet entertaining movie. Long live Superstar. !

A complete movie with good acting
4 August 2018
I remember watching this movie as a kid with my aunties in a hill station in North India called Pauri. The cinema was full and there were lots of families and 80% were females. Honestly speaking even as a kid I really enjoyed the movie as a great family drama. I sincerely wish Amitabh should have taken some in depth roles in his angry man stardom. He did it later on when career was going downhill.

Songs are just okay but watch this movie for conflicts between the characters, their dilemma and fighting destiny. The acting is very class. I feel bad because we don't make such movies now. Family movies mean Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam which was really boring. Romantic or sex comedy are trends in the name of love stories these days. It has been a long time the whole family may have watched a movie like this together in a cinema hall or in their drawing room..

Enjoy it as I am not revealing the story here.

What a ride it was
20 February 2018
I will keep it short . Why such a low rating for this movie. It is a brilliant thriller and survival movie with good pace. Initial 20 minutes a bit slow but it builds up the atmosphere brilliantly. Acting is really and director is conscious enough to keep it away from Slasher genre even though it is brutal throughout and had potential to turn into a slasher movie.

This movie is like going to an water park and enjoying a long bumpy ride with lots of curiosity what lies ahead.

More people shall watch especially when people waste millions of dollars all over the globe on a Hollywood craps from big studios.

You will not regret seeing it.

Good Attempt - Why low rtings
17 January 2018
I am surprised to see low ratings for this. The only reason is because it's like a mirror to the society especially the big bad world of dominant males all over the globe. There is nothing wrong with story line, acting and direction. The movie wants you to hate what you are seeing and it is successful in doing that.

Human population is basically slaves of their own bad habits and unfortunately poor gals have to pay price like this, endless sufferings. Hats off to the people who made this movie with right intents. It is not perfect but deserves a watch, very real and not unreal drama. Watch it once to know exactly how it's going around the globe.

Entertaining

If you can digest a little bit of violence and body show, this movie is really entertaining. The actors are good overall. The pace is good and twists and turns are fantastic. A horror comedy genre is done decently. It reminded me of 'You are Next'which was more surreal.

I can watch it again. Please do not read the story before viewing. Enjoy!

NO Spoilers as such but I am confused
13 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I believe I am generous in my rating and I am in minority here for sure. IT is overrated and too much hyped. OK let us come to the point.

Is it a horror movie ? Is it Comedy-horror or horror-comedy.? No it is unintentional comedy with little bit of jump scares.

Few points to ponder over as follows - 1. There are bullies in school who are beating up fellow students at will and no body complains and no parents are affected either. 2. Were American parents mostly evils or bad in eighties ? 3. Bully head boy has a sports car in eighties which twenty first century kids will be envious of. Who gives car to such young kids. 4. Why kids have to swear so much in the name of conversation or pleasing audience to smiles ? 5. Sewage is so much integral part of life in that town that every alternate scene is shot in sewage locations. 6. That Joker type entity is comic book. Movie has kids but to be viewed by adults. Utterly confusing. 7. Entity feed on your fear (flash too I guess) but young boy died in front of our eyes in first scene. Was not that real ? The blood in bathroom of the girl was not real ? All kids washed it together, though it was not visible to evil father of the girl, leading a pathetic life of an adult. 8. Bollywood is put to shame if you see the melodramatic tone of the movie at times. 9. Everything which Stephen Kings writes does not have to be great. 10. There is no police in town, even a policeman is murdered by family number. 11. Kids can be so fearless and can put adults to shame by their research work. 12. No adult is bothered by happenings in town except kids. 13. Be prepared for a sequel demanding more dollars from you.

14. Can somebody return my 2 hours (money was not too much as it was a weekday with a descent crowd mostly college goers in a very big plush South Mumbai Cinema screen) plus 2 hours of commuting to the place because of hyped created so I wanted to enjoy the experience in an exclusive place. My friend could not complain to me much in shame or hesitation.

There is a lobbying of reviewers in Film Industry of all countries. Movie was a bit entertaining if not viewed seriously. First 15 minutes are too good really especially concerning paper boat and young boy.

Humanity and Cinema at it's best
11 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
WOW ! and tears that was my feeling after I completed this movie. Simply brilliant tale told so effectively through amazingly live characters. Acting and direction is top class.

Flashback of war scenes without being too dramatic are so effective that they transport viewers back to those times in those particular places depicted in movie.

It is not a large scale movie but it deserves higher ratings. Once you start seeing it, you will be involved so much that you will never want it to finish early.

This movie shall be watched by all Cinema lovers. I am not a professional critic but this movie has a heart at it's right place and I become too emotional while writing this.

Wars never did good to anyone accept external pride but souls have suffered a lot all over the globe. Humanity is winner all the way - Easier said than done.

Manjunath (2014)
8/10
This Movie need to be viewed by more people.
28 September 2015
Manjunath : Well, all educated people of this country know about him and all people in the surrounding (Goal in UP) where he died know about this young sales officer who was doing his job like many of us do, most people back off when confronted with dilemmas and refuse to hear to their conscience but Manjunath did.

Movie is well made under limited budget and for me three highlights of the movie are - (I) The resemblance of central character playing Manjunath in the movie Mr. Sasho Saarthy is amazing. This young actor have done a brilliant job in the movie. (ii) The scenes with parents and especially with mother are tear jerker. It happens in almost all middle class family yet you would like to watch them again and again. (iii) Post death conversation between Manjunath and convict is just superb. Yashpal Sharma is a brilliant actor too. Go watch it people, not to be missed. Reality and artistic creations are at it's best.

Now the sad part is we go to cinema in watching mindless Bollywood packages and make them run for long time to earn lot of money. I am not saying or judging it is wrong but sad part is that an inspirational movie on real life characters earns 30 lacs INR, Shame on us.

For any movie goer, from any country or language, it is a must watch. Hats off to the producers and director for investing and making a story which needed to be told. Thanks !!

Bad one
13 August 2014
Well I do not have much words to describe a disaster of a movie.First time director with plenty of movie making experience and he still does not know how to make a movie. I had to watch this for my kid. Well, let us be clear it a choreographed movie not directed. No logic no continuity no sense utter disguise and what a waste of money. Only saving grace is Nawazuddin Khan but his role is too small to sustain interest in the movie. Salman has dine a good job of doing Salman on screen

That's it. Awful songs and duologue's. These people have enough money to throw in production and then make money out of common man. In the name of art they are looting people and big banners block all screens too such that common people do not have option to watch other movies as I wanted to watch Pizza 3D but no screen was available. What a sorry state and surprised that it is still running in cinema halls. Something is terribly wrong with UA.

Masterpiece
13 August 2014
A movie lover can watch this again and again. One of the best movie made in India. No other actor could have done justice to such an author backed role, Rajesh Khanna has lived the role on screen. Being a superstar he has guts to to do such roles which Big B never did in his prime as he never came out of his formula of angry man when he was at peak. Every scene and dialog in the movie is iconic. Movie based on death of a cancer patient yet it brings smiles to our faces.Music and co-artist like Amitabh Bacchan Sumita Sanyal Lalita Panwar Jonny Walker etc makes this movie a legend in movie making

Direction was superb

Everybody still talks about the death scene even after 42 years. I also liked the emotional scene of heroine's mother while she is having conversation with Anand regarding her daughter's marriage. Long live entire people who made this movie what it is.

A thought provoking movie with emotional jerks
13 August 2014
This movie had best of the emotional scenes shown on screen so far. It has a great and unusual storyline where a young girl who is orphan falling in love with a man almost of Hus father age. Brilliant acting by the cast as good as Rajesh Khanna Smita Patil Shafi Imaandar and newcomer then Sabia. This movie inspired another classic like Lamhe with a different ending. If you like good movies the climax will bring tears in your eyes. Now Bollywood do not have guts to make such movies because of financial pressure. It is a masterpiece for sure. This movie again reminds you that what a charisma was Rajesh Khanna a super star but a brilliant actor too

Movie should have done well commercially to inspire people to make good movies but this film did inspire many to make such movies again
