Man of Steel (2013)
Superb
Well done Snyder, Goyer, Nolan-you have delivered a superb film for the original hero. Man of Steel connects well to the Dark knight trilogy with ease, in style and substance. It is a great new reboot of the DC franchise and will be the beginning of DC hero films of critical and commercial success. The film starts perfectly and then moves quickly into great story telling mode, which does not hold back in showing superman in all his glory- excellent action and special effects with a deep story and caring characters of great respect. Performances and casting is perfect all round, especially Shannon, but cavil does a great job also. Crowe is the best though. The film stays true to the source material (unlike ironman 3, which is a disgrace) go see it once, twice, it's worth multiple viewings and will go down as the best superman film so far, period.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Bay perfects transformers and secures the future of the franchise
Dark of the moon has made sure there will be a great future for the franchise, bay demonstrates that he has perfected his knowledge of the bots in disguise and takes it to another level. The film is a perfect combination of the previous two installments but with it's own originality in story, characters and action sequences, bay has displayed a great deal of care in the putting together of this film and it shows. As an original fan of the transformers from the cartoons I just wish to thank bay for being able to bring them to life in live action films, thank you Mr bay and please at least do one more or at least be an on hands producer to make sure the standard set by dark of the moon is continued.well done bay.
Regards, A very pleased transformers fan.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
boring and bad
Don't waste your time with this rubbish, if you value your time go and see something else. I don't know where to start-story pathetic, acting horrendous (One day they are going to look back at this guy who played Harry Potter and wonder "what the?" he is possibly the biggest geek to grace the planet)the rest of the features of this film aren't worth listing. This whole Harry Potter thing has been done to death, no matter how many fans there are this is clearly a fad that once over will stay over. Its so sad to see heroes now portrayed as little weasels, what horrible role models for children-don't let your kids see it they deserve better.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Good film, watch it more than once and it gets better.
The first time I saw this film it was at imax and I was rattled after I left the cinema, I knew that I enjoyed it but I needed to see it again for some reason so I did at a regular cinema and I liked it even more. In short this is one for the fans of transformers, part 1 was great but it did not have the epic battles of this part.It felt like I was watching the cartoon again only better. It brought me back to the days of good guys fighting bad guys with no need for any more information. Thats all I wanted from this film and it delivered exactly that, Bay did a great job, so I wouldn't pay too much attention to those who say its bad, they are just stupid. I have heard a lot about the people who like this film not being smart, well I have 2 degrees and I loved it. So go see it more than once and you will like it a lot more.Optimus prime rules and so does Bay.
Transformers (2007)
One for both the fan and newcomer
First of all I am huge Transformer fan, when I was a kid I watched the cartoon and the original animated movie(which I also love)A lot of so called fans have made comments on how their not happy,I don't see how this can be.This film brings Transformers to life in every sense,it is visually stunning and the original personalities of the robots has been captured perfectly with added gusto.Yes, changes have been made but these were necessary and only enhanced the story, the human characters were actually good for once and were extremely funny. The story is perfect for a blockbuster film, the direction by Bay is by far his best(this is his best film)and for once I am actually looking forward to a sequel. The newcomer will be blown away by the effects and really care about the noble Autobots, the fan will have their dreams fulfilled. This is also the biggest action movie ever made nothing even comes close.I'm in Australia so I saw the film before my American buddies,so please believe me,see this movie if your a newcomer(you will love it) and to the Transformer fans you must see this film, even the line "One shall stand and one shall fall" is spoken by Prime and if your a true fan be prepared, you may get emotional.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Movies like this should not be made.
This film really shows that Wes Craven is disturbed, and I heard that he has a strong Christian background. All he does with this film is promote the notion that evil is more powerful than good, its sickening to watch this movie, it has no morality and glorifies murder. I would not have minded so much if the evil one in the film met with a gruesome end (I think the killers in these films should die the worst)but in this film evil does not die and it really is an evil experience to watch this film.I know that its a horror movie, but I think thats why it should be judged more harshly. If your going to show all that horror, you have to show that in the end the evil one is going to get it the worst and be destroyed. If you don't your telling society that evil cannot be destroyed, which is not true.-10(should be banned)
Doom (2005)
Good computer game movie
The critics have been harsh on Doom and let's face it, rightly so.However for a film of it's type (computer game film) it is rather good,it certainly has captured the feel of the game and there's plenty of action and gore to go around. The problem is that if your are not familiar with the game, the film won't really appeal to you.I personally liked it right from the title sequence to the first-person credits and the first person sequence during the film is a masterstroke,if only there was more time spent in first-person view. For me the two main problems in the film are the plot and the acting. The plot holes are huge and there are many things that are just not explained, but the biggest problem in this film is 'the Rock' you know the wrestler who thinks he can act.
