Morty Lives Matter
10 September 2017
It's telling that a fictional society built up on the segregation of Mortys by Ricks is so incredibly similar to the segregation we're often shown by the media in our own reality. Besides a few slogan-esque one liners, the message was clear and concise without the need for an SJW style pretence to push an agenda. This is A* writing at its finest and easily my favourite episode of the season so far.

Be glad for ads?
18 June 2015
It's difficult to describe such a strange experience, sometimes this piece had me in awe; as seemingly dated graphics pleased the eye. On the contrary however, the poor acting (particularly from Colin Hanks) could have been what changed this series from quality to mediocre.

Sadly the fact that this was an advert, as opposed to a short film was its greatest mistake, it made constant reference to the Dell tablet it was advertising, even to the point of suggesting it was some kind of "worldly device".

Overall it was a decent show, it was hard to forget that it was an advert due to the way the show presented itself, however it had a sweet story and attractive CGI and it even managed (rarely be it) to make me think I was watching a movie/TV show instead of an advert, which is sadly really rare in this kind of media.

Bare in mind that this is not compared against any other TV series or movies, this is rated based on its quality as a web series. For which I felt it excelled in.

Better effects, better movie?
14 June 2015
It's clear to see when a film is a cash grab; big cast, big effects and an already established name always helps. It seems like the "Jurassic" franchise worked its way onto this bus a while back and never stepped off. It's a shame to say that even by today's movie standards "Jurassic World" wasn't the end of the road for the series, even today's CGI couldn't save it (Might have even been what killed it?).

This film is a stellar example as to why rehashing and rebooting movies doesn't work when you don't change anything... Now actually, that's not fair really, I mean this film did change things, for starts it removed nearly all the practical effects we cherished in the original, it also featured a lot more running (Because why not), it aimed to make dinosaurs more human and more relatable (Clearly because the first movie shamed them so much) and I almost forgot (Probably because it's so insignificant) the films called "Jurassic World" not "Jurassic Park".

To be honest though I knew what to expect, I think most people knew this franchise had been going nowhere since they went to the pictures in 1997. So I can't rate it really badly because that would assume that I expected this film to be great and I didn't. It was actually a great average film, nothing more nothing less, well maybe a bit less.

Conclusion: What you see is what you get, you don't like it, well...

Black Mirror: White Christmas (2014)
Season 2, Episode 4

Creepy much...
16 December 2014
Take a look inside the mind of Charlie Brooker and you might see some well written articles on pollution and politics, take a deeper look and you might find "Black Mirror" a seriously ingenious method of "emphasising" technology into this thriller.

This episode stood well among its brothers and sisters, it was well written, well directed and its cast performed outstandingly.

The episode itself however, truly amazing. I'd really love to be able to share all of my conclusions and all my revelations, however I think it's best just to say. If you haven't seen it, go watch it!

Also if you like this check out "The Outer Limits", in particular an episode titled "The Sentence" - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0667983/ In some aspects the theme is similar to this.

The Flash (2014–2023)

I'll have my show well-done, please?
24 October 2014
Okay here's an analogy. Imagine getting a beautiful meal laid out in front of you and your just about to put your fork to the plate getting ready for a delicious bite of well-done steak, only for the manager of the restaurant to grab the cob from your plate and slam it down your throat causing you immense amounts of pain as you try to force yourself to remain cool and collected and not experience a "food"-boy aneurysm.

I guess the real question here is, Did you see the cob coming? Could you feel the consternation as your corny end neared? Of course you could, everyone could, it's just a matter of whether you'd let yourself believe it.

I really wanted to come on here and rip to my damnedest about the corny nature of the flash, but that's just the idea of the show. It is corny, it is hammy, but it's all in good hope that the majority of superhero fans will see through the poor adaption as they see there favourite superhero hit the small screen. Face it people, it's not that good.

I'm giving the show a 6 because I'm only 3 episodes in. I mean I wasn't a big fan of the first couple episodes of breaking bad, but as I got further and further into the show, I started to like it more and more until I couldn't wait to see the finale. I'll come back and change my rating if the show gets better.

The series I want to like...
19 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Pokemon Origins was a really interesting shift from the normal anime as it followed closely to the original game "Pokemon: Red Version", unlike the normal anime which follows Ash Ketchum as he explores each of the worlds featured in each of the games.

However there are many issues which can not be ignored; like why does the show have to ignore sections of the storyline featured in the game such as the gym leader battles. I mean some people (including me) may have had there most memorable experiences with those gym leaders.

Another bad point would be that the lack of relation to in game battles, now I don't necessarily mean turn-based because who wants to watch that, but more realistic battles. Like when Red and Giovanni battled how did both Pokemon get knocked out...

Finally it's got to be "Mega Charizard", firstly why? I haven't played the later games yet, however that shouldn't matter considering the series is based on the original game, right?

The redeeming qualities however were the nice nostalgic hints such as the sound effects which mimicked that of the games and the music which was of a nice homage to the original music. The animation was quite nice too, it was a revamped version of the anime, much like the Pokemon movies.

Overall I quite enjoyed the show, It got on my nerves from time to time, but overall pretty solid. 7/10

Houdini (2014)
5/10
A messy blend of non-fiction and Fiction
14 September 2014
Now I want to say before I start that this show is actually a mixture of fiction and non-fiction. Not all of it is real, most of it is speculation and some of it is completely made up, however all of it is picked, to give the watcher the best experience possible. That being said, this show was nothing special.

People see the topic of Houdini bashed about now and again, however what we know of Houdini's "real" life is so little it becomes a topic which struggles to live and dies sour.

This is why most of us were so shocked when we heard there was going to be a Houdini biopic, I mean it had to be done, one of the greatest figures of the late 19th/early 20th century was going to get his screen time.

But from the first day it started to go down hill. The initial cover art and the poorly chosen cast were the first of many mistakes which lead to this mediocre expo. The second mistakes made, were the poorly written (and acted) dialogue and lack of attention to details which really shone through in the finished piece. Finally it has to be the airing of the show on the "History Channel". Now I'm not sure if this was planned from the start or a change made in production or maybe the original channel who produced it didn't want it, but I couldn't have picked a worst channel to air this on, surely history is something true and honestly, to be fair, barely any of this is actually true. However "luckily" for me and my 64 million neighbours the show was aired on channel 4, a TV- channel known for airing interesting and provocative dramas.

All in all the finished product was rather average and most definitely disappointing, the latter episode being the worst of the two. My rating 5/10.
