Road House (2024)
Jake's Impressive Performance and Wonderful Remake
It's always difficult to live up to the original box office movie when you do a remake of a cult classic. It was not so for this remake starring Jake Gyllehaal as Elwood Dalton, of the original 1989 of the same title by Patrick Swayze. From beginning of the movie, this film show a great character development! Dalton, who was an MMA fighter and a tough guy by nature finds himself struggling to make ends meet.
Throughout the movie you can see that there ate a lot of similarities between the original movie between the movie. For instance, both star characters express their attitude that no one win in a fight. Both the original and this movie's main character love coffee, and are skillful in wound care.
But, then, this movie has its stark contrast from the 80's movie theme of the original movie, the remake is full of Florida ocean theme with boat, water, and even killer alligator. In addition, this movie is heavily influenced by MMA style of fighting, even featuring Connor McGregor as Knox the antagonistic fighter.
However, the fight with Knox seems to be more of McGregor's, often seen characters he often portrayed in social media, and a lot of unnecessary backside nudes of McGregor, which is totally unnecessary.
I would prefer to see more octagon style fighting choreography rather than McGregor's antique.
The fighting between Dalton and Knox showed some closed up Jason Bourne style of shooting which required a lot of cut and editing, with a few full frame.
Overall, Jake's acting more than make up for some of the flaw.
Great action movies!
David and Goliath (2015)
The Worse Acting Ever
This movie was comedic through out the whole movie. It is not because it was funny, but because the acting was so bad. I felt like someone was making a joke of the story of David and Goliath. This movie would be great though if it was produced in the 1930's when moving picture was rare. I think they should hide this movie for their family entertainment only. I think a high-school student's drama is better than this. The sound effect and the screen effect was terrible. The conversation was so raw, the drama was terrible. There were even oldest version of David's movie that is better than this one. Don't watch this unless you want to use this as a joke in your stand up comedy session.
