I watched the movie for the songs - ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga, kuch na kaho, pyar hua chupke se. I have listened to them 100s of times before - great lyrics and so melodious.
The scenery of a small mountain town is idyllic. The first half of the movie is romance and the songs :) A 90s gem, I miss those dancing around the house and trees!
The second half advances the serious krantikari plot. The story line is average, patriotic and over dramatic. There are several likeable characters and a few outright villains - the age of simple black and white world! Characters were developed, such as that of the driver, the mother and others, making it an enjoyable watch too.

Which other movie than Queen can portray the life of a middle class woman, brought up in an Indian conservative society ? Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film stars Kangana Ranaut as Rani, Lisa Haydon as Vijayalakshmi and Raj Kumar as Vijay in lead roles.
The film depicts the course of action taken by a simple middle class girl from Rajouri, Delhi, whose fiancé walks out of the marriage the day before wedding. His claim was that he has changed, and she would not be able to match his lifestyle anymore. Having her hopes shattered and dreams ruined, she decides to go to Paris and then Amsterdam on her honeymoon, alone, as was pre-planned.
A girl who could not go to her fiancé's house unaccompanied goes to an unexplored foreign land on her own. Initially, always awaiting a reply from her fiancé, she moves ahead after the new experiences she had in Paris. She makes new friends and starts to experience a free existence. She begins to express her perspective of life; she gains self confidence and begins to realize how lives can be for people living in different parts of the world.
The movie also exhibits the irony of how people pretend to be your near and dear ones but are oblivious of your existence, your joys and sorrows. It also shows how unknown strangers can become an important part of your life, so naturally, once you come out of your shell.
The costume design of the movie was excellent keeping in mind the social background of the characters and helped portray the living style of Indians. The locations chosen for the movie were splendid and included sightseeing of Paris and Amsterdam. The song "London Thumakda" aptly displays the scene of a ceremony in a Punjabi marriage. Other songs including "O Gujariya" and "Ranjha" were pretty good. The dialogues of the movie could have been more impactful.
The pace of the movie was even and there were no lengthy songs that bore you off. Also, it doesn't show dramatic change in the personality of the protagonist that makes it unbelievable to digest. Overall, the movie is inspiring and the acting is genuine. I would recommend it as a must see.
