Mr. Malcolm's List (2022)
Boring over the top dialogue and characters
This could have been done well with multi-ethnic cast that made sense with each other and manners and dialogue that actually seemed true to the period but instead it seemed like it was simple-minded one dimensional characters with so many of them over the top. The dialogue and situations were in your face. No subtlety and very little that would actually occur in that time period in terms of the way people were interacting. People confronting each other in ridiculous ways that would never happen with characters that were unbelievable in their manner. Totally lost opportunity to do something elegant and believable since certainly there were people of different races in High Society at that time but manners and inelegantness would not have been accepted and the dialogue was so lame. Three stars for good attempts at costuming and locations and a little bit of humor with the servants that were way more believable in their dialogue.
Coneheads (1993)
Very funny feel-good movie! Highly watchable
This is such a great movie and many of its lines have become so memorable. The skit was great on SNL. The movie is a gift. Laugh out loud funny in many places. The film has aged well considering how much has changed technologically since 1993. The hit series 3rd Rock from the Sun shares writer Bonnie Turner as one of the writers of this film. I was shocked to see a lower rating on this film. What are people missing? So much of the humor in this is universal. Perhaps people are being oversensitive as there are themes about immigration and a small Christianity joke but these are aliens, not humans from Earth. Is it some political or religious reaction? The special effects are pretty advanced for the time and don't look too.hokey. Is it that this movie does not look like something that was made within the last 10 years? Ghostbusters certainly has held up over the years. It doesn't matter why these reviews are lower, this movie will stand the test of time. Funny is funny. Just as Charlie Chaplin movies are still funny.
The River and the Wall (2019)
Congress and Every American should see this film
This is a very important film and it is not a political film at all. There are real solutions when people problem solve together, especially those that actually live there.
