High Spirits (1988)
7/10
I've been searching for this silly film for years.
27 September 2017
I remember seeing it & thinking it was hilarious, then later when films on disk came out, I couldn't remember the name of the stupid movie, I was so frustrated.

Then today, I looked up Daryl Hannah & I saw one that was at the right time. And this is it! Hurrah! I think 5.7 is way too LOW. Maybe some people don't get British humor? No, scratch that, lot's of people don't.

I'm a horsewoman from the age of 7 So I approve this message.
30 July 2017
I'd say, that it was an interesting movie, I'm pretty sure horse whispering doesn't work. Horses don't pay much attention unless you shout at them. Then they can get offended or saddened, depending on their personality. The scenery is gorgeous, the people work well together. The script is great. But it does fall a little short on the horse angle.

But since most people know very little about horses, it won't ruin it, it didn't even ruin it for me. I just said, "Ok, they don't know what they're talking about here." I can't emphasize enough about the scenery. Awesome, just awesome.

Great
13 July 2017
I was 40 when I saw this, it kept me bewildered, confused, fascinated & occasionally frightened for Jen & Kira. Let us not forget the puppy. I think it was a puppy. I loved the muppet show, so I expect no less from this movie, but got so much more.

As soon as the DVD came out, I bought it. This was all live action. Even if it was puppets. I found it as good as Star Wars. What can I say?

By the way, did you ever see Mark Hamill on the Muppets? Hysterical. Miss Piggy tried to get him to rescue her. LOL

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (1975 TV Short)
7/10
Very interesting
6 July 2017
I never saw this until today. I remember reading the book & enjoying it greatly. Like another viewer, I felt sorry for the mamma snake, she just wanted to protect her babies. But, She also wanted to kill the whole family.

I sort of got a view of it in real life. My cat, Orbs, brought home a baby rattlesnake & was playing Rikki-Tikki-Tavi with IT. I managed to grab her & my dad killed it & buried it. I felt sorry for that one too. He was just minding his own business when my crazy cat abducted him.

Seven Samurai (1954)

It is Akira's best
3 June 2017
One year at Grossmont College, they had a year of Akira Kurosawa movies.

I watched them all. At the end, I could understand Japanese. I also understood what a great writer & director he is. The Magnificent 7 is a cheap ripoff of this classic, & yet, it is still almost as powerful as 7 Samurai, I'd give it a 9.

I have to say I wept bitterly when Akira died in 1998.

Only one film of his I didn't like, "Ran". It's because it's based on the one Shakespeare play I didn't like. King Lear.

Frasier: Crane vs. Crane (1996)
Season 3, Episode 19

The Crane boys are at it again.

Sibling rivalry rears it's ugly head in a court case.

Donald O'Connor plays his role perfectly as a free spirited guy who likes adventure. His son doesn't.

Frasier sides with the older guy, Niles with the younger, playing their complexes against each other until the very end, when all is settled with a comic twist.

Frasier: The Show Where Diane Comes Back (1996)
Season 3, Episode 14
10/10
I loved this show, especially this one. I have the whole set
23 May 2017
Frazier at first is very angry with Diane, then tries to help her when he finds out she's a wreck. Then sees the play.

The play's the thing where I'll catch the conscience of the King.

It's about a bar & a bunch of people who hang out there. Where everybody knows your name.

Spotlight (I) (2015)
Been there, done that.

I haven't seen the film. When I was 10, my favorite, Father Eddy died. This joker showed up, all puffed up & told me, "Father Eddy's dead, I'm here NOW."

I'm surprised I didn't crack a tooth. I said to myself, "he must DIE!!!!" I smiled as sweetly as I could & asked him, if Jesus was the creator of the universe, why couldn't he create cheeseburgers for the disciples? He turned white as a sheet & ran from the room.

I later learned he had his sorry ass thrown in jail for molesting boys on the football team. Good thing he didn't try it with me. I regularly beat their sorry asses, & he was a little wimp of a thing. I'd of turned him into guacamole dip. So, it's a little too close to home for my comfort. My cousin said that guy molested him.

Groundhog Day (1993)

I normally hate Bill Murray
12 May 2017
But somehow, in this movie, he's great. Go figure. The bit with the groundhog is gold. His numerous suicides are hilarious. I love the look on his face when he realizes it's groundhog day, AGAIN.

I bought the movie, it was just too delicious.

I'm surprised they didn't do a follow up movie.

The Wild Thornberrys (1998–2004)

I thought the show was very funny.

I'm a bit older than the others, but I love British humor. I don't understand the hate?

They were very interesting & amusing stories, It was sort of like crocodile hunter without the crikies.

The family would get in silly situations & the daughter that could talk to the animals would get them out of it. The adults would rationalize how they got out of it & go on their merry way.

Unfortunately, I had to stop watching due to health problems that preempted shows. Not mine. My parents.

We totally loved this show
10 March 2017
Too bad it was so short lived, another great one bites the dust, along with My world & welcome to it.

I guess, most people just didn't get the humor. My whole family has a very wacko sense of humor. I'm surprised, Star Trek stayed on as long as it did. But it got a 2nd & 3rd & 4th chance. Why not these 2 great shows?

My favorite show of all time!
22 February 2017
I loved this show. we recorded every episode on our brand new Heathkit kit of the month tape recorder. Alas, it broke down & the newer recorders wouldn't take the old one.

I do remember vividly, Monroe dreaming about the ways he would kill his boss. when I was working & my boss was being a Greeley, I'd just picture some of the picturesque ways he'd kill Greeley.

I only remember one part specifically. The house caught on fire & I believe Monroe put it out. the fireman came in screaming "I have to chop it all before it BURNS!"

Monroe: There's no fire.

Fireman: No fire?

Monore: No.

Fireman: It's going to be a long ride home.

banana in a nutshell. spoiler - possibly
22 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not Chinese, only part. But, that doesn't matter. My parents never said they loved me. But I'm pretty sure my dad did, and my mother didn't. She was also a great liar, I didn't believe much of anything she did say. I also never looked to her for approval because I knew I would never get it. My dad and I had great times together. My mother had a great time by herself bitching and complaining. If I ever wanted to marry, I wouldn't have told them about it, it's merely polite, not necessary. If they wanted to disown me, I'd say "great", and just go on.

The film was alternately almost unbearable and very pleasant, or it would have got a higher rating. Her complaining about what her parents might or might not do was very annoying. She is a grown up in a relation with a man for eight years, highly unlikely that nothing more was going on. As she finally admitted to herself, "what difference does it make if they disown me?" None, dear, they either come to the wedding or not, not a big deal. And congratulations on your wedding.
