Love isn't always a Bed of Roses
28 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The Cost of Love is not a pretty movie, one could also say it's definitely not a movie for everyone.

It deals with the friendships of several characters and the way their lives deal with the tragic, simplistic and sometimes horrific events which make up the lives not only of themselves, but also other people they are acquainted with.

For non-gay audience members, this will certainly be an eye-opener, because it doesn't cover up gay related activities, it shows them in all their glory...it also shows that physical & domestic abuse isn't primarily a heterosexual condition.

All the stars do their roles justice, in particular the late Michael Joyce ( a personal friend), who not only plays a pivotal character by the name of Shaun, but he also re-creates his "drag" persona Estee Applauder...a character who is as complex as the movie itself.

Watch this if you want to see a side of life, you may not be acquainted with or if you are a part of the wider gay community, you will also see close friends of your own being portrayed by the characters in the movie.

A must see.

Razzle Dazzle (2007)

Put some Razzle Dazzle into your life......
2 October 2007
What a great little film....This won't win Oscars or any other film award, but it will make you chuckle at the characters some of whom we all know in real life. What parent hasn't had the (mis)fortune to be part of ballet classes, whether it be classical, modern, tap or contemporary. Every week the little darlings don their leotards and ballet shoes and go along and join their other little friends and teacher Miss Denise (an ageing, usually overweight woman who shouldn't really wear a body hugging anything, but does. Every week she puts the kiddies through their steps, until the dreaded "End of year Dance Extravaganza" arrives. Parents fork out a lot of money to put their kids through dance class, then more money on costumes, buying the DVD, buying the music etc...all for 3 minutes on stage. This movie looks at it all, with hilarious consequences. Starring some of the best performers in Australian theatre, TV, cabaret and movies. A must see....it's awesome!!!!!

A Thrill Ride from beginning to End!!!!

Too many people get too technical when giving reviews on this site. I watch movies for the entertainment value, nothing more nothing less. This action packed gem, with amazing stunts was great fun from the first frame to the last. Sure it's corny, and very far-fetched, but what action packed film isn't. If you want a film with OK looking stars, a baddie on the loose in the Austraian Alps, and adrenalin pumping action, then this movie is for you, you also don't have to be a rocket scientist to follow the plot. I thought it was a lot of FUN....well worth the tub of popcorn. It put me in mind of other non stop action films with similar structure, Indiana Jones movies, all have mains tars, a baddie or two, great scenery and fabulous locations, same here. Should be enjoyed by the whole family......

Coming Out Party (2003 Video)

imitates life....not all happy and "GAY"
14 April 2007
I recently sat down and watched this movie on DVD, after having seen a very funny trailer for it. I knew nothing about the comics who were telling their "coming out" stories in front of a live audience in a Santa Monica nightclub. The comics were represented by two lesbians, and the remainder were gay guys, all with humorous anecdotes about what "coming out" meant to them. Some had heartfelt comments, others had racial comments, some had comments directed towards religion. This was not, as funny as the trailer made it out to be, but is life as funny as we make it out to be? Some of us use humour as an excuse to shield ourselves from the pain we go through on a daily basis. Not all "coming out" stories are funny, as all these comics pointed out, and all agreed that its not an easy resolution to come too, but if you are a gay person, then it is an obligation to oneself, to come out and proudly acknowledge your existence to the world.

movie buffs paradise...may contain spoilers
27 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This Wallace and Gromit full length movie, was a delight from start to finish. There were no lapses in storytelling, just pure fun all the way. Taking an amazing 5 years to film because of its clay stop animation process, and starring the voices of Ralph Feinnes and Helena Bonham Carter, you could be forgiven if you thought you were in a typical English comedy program or on the set of any one of numerous film Blockbusters. Films like Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Watership Down, Harvey, Thunderbirds, Harry Potter and even King Kong are represented, but it is up to the viewer to spot them. The film might be considered for children, but is directed more for the adult audience enjoying its blend of typical double innuendos British humor and amazing animation. a movie not to be missed.
