Shôgun (2024)
I wish there was a trigger warning!!
Consider this a TRIGGER WARNING!!
In the first episode a baby is killed. I wish so badly I had know this. As someone who has a baby I found this to be deeply upsetting and I had to stop watching.
If I had know I wouldn't have started watching, or I would have skipped that part. You don't see it but what you do see is the mother holding the baby and her absolute anguish. It was heartbreaking and I cried a lot. I'm not saying these stories can't be made or told, I just wish there was a warning. Especially on Disney+ where I watched it. I spent the rest of the night crying, it was very painful as i had experienced loss a few years back.
It's a shame because I really liked it up to that moment. It looks to be such a good series. So please, if you have experienced loss like this please be careful.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Not as good as it could be.
It's sad really, because they have so much to work with!
The script for me is the let down, and without a solid script there is nothing.
I gave it 6 out of 10 because I appreciate the beautiful settings and CGI, I love the costumes and some of the characters.
What I don't love is the pacing of the story, I don't love the way the story unfolds.
There is not a natural flow and it's frustrating for me to see. The line where they deliver about Mordor was laughingly bad for example.
The problems with the harfoots is another ridiculous concern for me. Why are they so badly stereotyped to be Irish?!
I've seen all of season 1 now and I really hope season 2 does better. I want to like this, I do! But it's just bad writing and there isn't an excuse for it.
Castle: The Limey (2012)
Why why why?!
Are you seriously telling me there were 0 British beefcake actors in LA that they could of hired?!
His accent flips between strong Australian "g'day" type, to a poor "ello gov'nah!" Affair.
His back story is bad. The writing in this whole episode is bad. The will they won't they with Beckett and Castle is annoying at this point.
Honestly I'd say skip this episode entirely and save yourself the frustration. You wont miss anything I promise.
A Christmas Prince (2017)
Ridiculous but fun
It's not the best film in the world, but it's trashy and fun.
The acting is questionable, the premises is by the numbers, however it didn't stop myself and my family from enjoying the ludacris nature of the movie.
