Hawkeye (2021)
Light-hearted fun full of MCU references (and of course cliches)
I started watching hawkeye while in the middle of a huge trip back to the city where I was born, expecting myself to fall asleep while watching. Spoiler: it did not happened.
So, first things first. The fact that after two or three episodes i wanted to know more and i needed to finish the serie was definitely positive, it means that some quality content was surely in it, or i'd be bored. Despite i don't like the font and the logo nor i find it "catchy"( which is not a main feature for a movie, but sometime is what leads my finger to the play button) the content is quality, overall.
The acting and is disney-sh even though this experiment to "humanize" the character of hawkeye and to show the concrete consequences of what happened in Avengers Endgame was much appreciated since I feel the "weakest" Avenger was always kinda left aside during the whole happenings (until a sudden death happens changing his life and making him a lead role).
Plus, it's a great, light, christmas, teen show focusing on action, that could have been way worse. A solid 7 that can become in the future an 8, let's hope they develope the character better and they keep making it "adult" and not that kind of kids action show that is becoming popolar nowadays.
If you like Marvel definitely a must watch.
Laggies (2014)
A coming of age movie for the ones society impose to be already "of age"
I'm a guy in love with teen movies and chick flicks, even though i'm a lot into movies universe and I love cinematography. I think that Laggies features a right coming of age story, without being pretentious or incoherent.
By personally being in my middle 20s and experiencing that "i'm lost" phase without understanding where life aims and what your unique destiny is, I felt sort of connected with the main lead role, also I experienced that sense of "all the friends around me are jerks" and I think the movie depicts it perfectly. It's a coming of age movie for the ones society impose to be already "of age" and that's good, since it's common.
Keira Knightley is stunning, as always.
Good Omens (2019)
A great tale.
Good Omens is a great british tale about good and evil, set in a modern London. An angel and a demon team up to rescue the world with a young antichrist sent to heart by his father, the devil. It's a light mini serie really enjoyable that seems like a Douglas Adams tale.
The acting is great, the serie is fast paced and definitely should have lasted more cause I personally loved it. Cinematography is great although CGI sometimes is not that good. It's a great tale, and you should definitely give it a shot if you love stories!
Black Sails (2014)
Start as a 7. Becomes absolutely a 10.
It's a mature prequel of "Treasure Island".
Black Sails made me dream about being a pirate. Swear. After seeing the first episodes, i was absolutely dragged to the norton of the ocean, and came out just yesterday when i finished the serie. Worth binge watching, sad there will be no season 5.
The power of the word in the episodes sometimes takes the lead on the power of the sword. And i love it. From the second season on, the writing is flawless. Also, i loved the audio compart, surround is good, and ships battles are amazing. The female roles become stronger and stronger from season to season. Sooner or later, the people you love, you'll hate.
Raise the black!
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)
Gets Better with years.
As a child, i do remember, seeing my friends and spending the whole afternoon watching this film. Everytime. I'm in love with the franchise, but especially, i'm in love with Tokyo Drift.
First of all, the soundtrack.
One, simple word. Amazing. From the first scene to the last. Still singing "My Life be Like Ooh Aaah" one decade after. The "Barracuda" song, also. The one that spells the word "Barracuda". Awesome. And of course the song in the parking lot, "Fast And Furious". The famous one.
Then, the characters.
Characters are well written. Of course they are full of clichès. It must be. It's a fast and furious one. Nathalie Kelly looks like a dream. Lucas Black is also a great main character. Bow Wow, he makes me laugh. And Sung Kang, the one playing Han, he's the real hero. So cool. James Dean of the franchise. You can easily fall in love with every character. Even the bad guys are cool.
And, last but not least. The Cars.
Changing to one driving style to another. To let the franchise fresh. Good choice. But then. Cars are so hot in this movie. From first till last race. I'm in love with drift cars. With the red Lancer, the Slylines and of course with Han's RX7. Amazing.
If own a car, or a motorbike, and you love it. Well that's the movie for you. Definitely. I'm huge a fan. So this is gonna be a huge 8. Please, do not kill the franchise, ever.
