Walking on Water (2002)
An excellent Australian film
I just watched this last night and it is a very heartfelt, interesting Australian movie.
It's a fantastic break from some recent Australian slop like 'Deck Dogz', 'Hating Alison Ashley', 'Strange Bedfellows' and 'Thunderstruck', to name just a few of the recent Australian failures.
I cried during the film, and that doesn't happen to me very often. Vince Colosimo does a fantastic performance, and the strength of the ensemble is amazing.
I highly recommend this movie to others who enjoy excellent Australian cinema, and to those who have been disappointed by a lot of recent films that have underwhelmed.
Rail Around Queensland: Brisbane Northside (2003)
An interesting historical look at Brisbane
I grew up in Brisbane for most of my life and have always been intrigued by the railway network and the history surrounding it. Apart from bits and pieces I have picked up from the local media, I haven't had a good source of information on this until now.
I'm by no means a "rail-fan" but have a passing interest in recent history and in transport and its planning and development, and as such found this documentary to be extremely interesting.
Although it has a heavy handed approach with frequent shots there solely to sell to rail fans, the historical content is very informative and overall this is a good documentary.
