One of the best stories I have seen anywhere in decades.........
19 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
OK, the show starts off pretty well & gets better & better every week. I was about 52 y/o when this was making its first run & this was a show I looked forward to & got up early for & loved beyond words.

One of the most amazing parts of the show is the teamwork & friendships that build & get more complex & sometimes relationships became agonizingly to watch. I have seen millions of characters get smoked on TV & such & when someone in this show makes a supreme sacrifice, I screamed "NNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! & it hurt & the story is just getting started. Waiting till next Saturday was exciting & nerve wracking. And then the whole story takes a big step to the left & engages ultra warp.

I am not familiar w/ G/L comics recently but those who are will be happy to see the whole color spectrum & allusions to Black Lanterns for the next DVD/season/who knows?

I am gonna steal a line or two from a review on Netflix.

Part of its success is that Green Lantern is not the focus of a lot of the plot. In the end, the show is about whether love is worth a damn at all, and it's really, really compelling. Hard to exaggerate how good this single season is.

The above paragraph I credit to an unknown Fan on the Netflix site.

Over the last few years I as probably all of you have faced challenges & I swear, I keep the Blue Lantern Oath in mind.

I was at an esoteric chakra energizing event & I used the Blue Lantern Oath & Hope in the stars & I swear it manifested beautiful energy everywhere & had about 9 people in the room riding along. Tears of joy & smiles all round the room that night.

Now back to the show. Music is beautiful & the creator Frederik Wiedmann is off to big stuff with a boost to his career from the wonderful job done here.

The show is great for old & young & boy I wish I had stuff like this to watch with my dad 45 years ago.

When the story takes an arc from love gone wrong in part2 of the season it is unsurpassed in anything I have ever seen on TV & even in Sci/FI it takes something like "Stranger in A Strange Land" by Robert Heinlein to beat it!

The final 8 episodes were just so amazing, I have been waiting for over a year to watch again & enjoy it like new (or try).

If you are him hahing about watching or buying this show, look at netflix reviews. Every day a new one comes up, always 5 stars & always "my god, how could they cancel the best thing they ever saw?".

Kiliwog & razor start out not to chummy & by ep4 they are shaking hands, and ep26 farewell speech........... is too beautiful for me to hack up here.

Remember,

In Fearful Day, In Raging Night WITH STRONG HEARTS FULL, OUR SOULS IGNITE When all seems lost in the war of light LOOK TO THE STARS, FOR HOPE BURNS BRIGHT.

Seriously, this show is pure beauty in motion.

Excellent "B" Flick!
11 September 2007
This movie has it all. Mad scientists, brain control nuclear weapons and women in pointy bras.

This movie was on of my favorites as a kid & even now is in regular rotation in my sci/fi collection.

There are plenty of plot holes but the great score & what I think good effects along with serviceable acting put this up near the top of the 50's sci'fi genre.

The DVD looks good with only a few minor artifacts & the wide screen presentation is top notch.

Well worth buying.

The best show on TV!
7 August 2007
I watched this few times on a DVD when I was between dogs.

Man visits family with bad dog man fixes dog & people, ho hum.

I have recently gotten a Pitbull/Chow/Sheperd mix & he was quite a handful. Yelling & the discipline you would use on a human had no effect.

He would run at you and body slam ya & then run by nipping as German Shepherds do to live stock.

After watching just a few episodes I got the gist of pack leadership & it has turned my somewhat crazy dog into a calm submissive member of our pack.

It is amazing to watch him take snarling, biting, bucking, leash crazy rotties & in a matter of minutes get them under control & save them from the pound (and death).

One of my favorites episodes had a women whose parents died within a few weeks of each other & then she suffered 4-5 miscarriages in a row. She subsequently developed a panic disorder & the dog she was trying to train as some sort of Aid Dog (that helped her with her panic attacks) began to suffer emotional problems also.

He was able to help the women get mastery of her fears & help her dog also, it was truly a tear jerking beautiful thing.

Even if your dog is wonderful I heartily recommend this show, it truly is the best thing on television.

What a Fun Show!!
21 January 2007
What a great show. 3 DVD's approx an hour each with many great songs & bands.

the first one had Timothy Leary between many songs & featured many great icons of the 60's (older in 1989) that are gone now.

Spencer Davis was rockin as was Iron Butterfly & Spencer Davis.

Melanie had several great numbers and was fun & enjoyable.

disk one also had Canned Heat & Blood sweat & tears.

Leon Russsel jamming with Edgar Winter was smoking.

Disk 2 had several MArk Farner songs (of Grand Funk Railroad) more Melanie & Blood Sweat & Tears.

Disk 3 which I am gonna watch next features "It's a Beautiful Day, Country Joe, Humble Pie, Melanie, Buddy Miles & canned heat.

Not the block buster Woodstock was but good music that sounds great.

Well worth a watch.

The Dinosaurs! (1992– )

A fantastic first Dinosaur Film.
12 October 2006
I was a geology student when this show came out, & my professors were beside themselves with excitement.

This film starts out with the history of paleontology, & quickly runs thru the evolution of dinosaurs & birds.

The animation is "animation" old school, but it is still effective & educational.

I got my copy off PBS 12 years ago & after watching "Walking w/ Dinosaurs" I dug this out. This is one of the best Documentary one dinosaurs I have ever seen.

10 outa 10 ****** PS see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0214382/ and http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0283245/ both on DVD at netflix!

The Thing (1982)

Scared me so bad....
12 March 2006
I literally had to sleep with the lights on for 3 nights (i saw this at its release in a drive in). This movie sets the bar for paranoia & nerve racking. I have the first DVD that is pictured here yet am dying to see the latest super special directors redone version which netflix does not have.

Nothing scared me like this till the I saw the Grudge & house of 1000 corpses which came close but The Thing really has staying power. Its ancient effects are still terrifying & the great cast does a fine job of instilling fear in the viewer.

I think this is one of the finest horror/sci-fi films ever made, & am glad to see it start to get the recognition it deserves.

worst movie ever!!
28 November 2005
Warning: Spoilers
it's not to often i am totally annoyed by a movie but this POS was the worst aberration i have ever subjected my self to.

Every single character just rubbed me the wrong way. Tom C. was the most annoying actor i can remember. I mean this movie made MIdnight Movie Massacre or Toxic Avenger look like a Cecil B Demille production.

If the little girl................... NEVERMIND! I was literally groaning throughout the entire 2 hours & yelling at my TV as 1 asinine line after another spewed from the speakers.

The stupidity is hard to describe, but i will try.

The invaders who have planned this trip to earth for centuries, while looking around, outside of their tripods drink out of a broken water or sewer pipe & then lick a photo or something then get ill.

i think any race with this much technology would have looked at earths biology & would have a working knowledge of germs.

do your self a favor get the new special edition 1953 edition & you will have a movie that is a good now as it was when it was new!

i swear, just thinking back to a wasted Saturday night, watching this POS literally makes me feel ill.

BTW i does seem to have a good star rating here, but read some of the more in-depth reviews b4 u waste a netflix rental.

The parts where earth was being laid waste were pretty entertaining, but once again almost every b move of the 50's were better & more entertaining than this trash.
