The Last of Us: Look for the Light (2023)
Flawless, except for one big thing
The biggest issue is not making it clear that the vaccine would probably have NOT worked. This is something the game made clear and it is what rationalised Joel's actions in the game.
It isn't worth killing an innocent child for a hypothetical vaccine that in most cases would not succeed anyway.
I wish they took their time to explain this. It needed more runtime, more argument, more discussions about the morality here. All that needed to be fleshed out.
The finale felt rushed because of this, because they needed more clarity on the whys and how's, and also why did Joel kill the guy who surrendered ? Didn't he spare the nurses in the emergency room? Why kill that one military dude who put down his gun?
The Last of Us: Left Behind (2023)
The production quality is incredible and extremely immersive
The one thing that must be said is the incredible attention to detail as far as the production quality and set pieces detailing goes. It is undeniably outstanding. I have never seen a show where there were close up shots of characters stepping on a small puddle and talking about how it's been "exposed since years" and the puddle looking believably so, the smudges and stains on walls in the background, the prosthetics on the zombies, the detailing at the arcade area with just the perfectly magical looking lighting.
This alone makes this show worth watching. It makes every scene feel so immersive and I get sucked into the drama even more as a result. Previous episodes did beautiful landscape shots, this episode really, I mean really shows you their chops when it comes to detailing and bringing and entire post apocalyptic mall to life.
Million Pound Menu (2018)
Superb show. I dont understand the criticism. Far more interesting than Masterchef
Let me making something clear: this show is for people who enjoy both Shark Tank and Masterchef. It is a perfect mixture of the two.
Every idea isnt going to be invested in , just like Shark Tank, and its a lot more interesting because you learn about the business side of restaurants and creating businesses out of them.
It is a must watch and really makes you use your own brain while watching it (would I invest in this idea?) that alone makes it more engaging than Masterchef.
The Firm (1993)
Superb Thriller, I dont understand the 6.8/10 score. Should easily be a 8+/10
I blows my mind that this movie isn't rated higher than it is. I was very tensed in the tense moments, I was laughing at the humourous bits and was truly mind blown at the plot revelations and outcomes at the end of the film.
What more can you possibly want from a film?
Its absolutely amazing, yes its a bit long but its superbly intelligent, extremely well written and directed. Cruise is in great form here. For me the intricate plotting and dilemmas in this movie are reason alone to watch this film. The soundtrack could perhaps have turned down the piano elements in some parts (as other reviews here have stated).
But overall, this is an absolute delight, to watch a realistic, grounded and INTELLIGENT thriller. It's certainly very refreshing to watch a movie like this.
Also one of the best book to movie adaptations for me. I would put it up there with Gone Girl as a movie that did justice to the book.
