Wolf Like Me (2022– )
3/10
Just another werewolf story
13 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
So US tourists maybe should not travel to backward Europe because they seem to be especially in danger of being bitten by werewolves there. In "American Werewolf" it was England, here it is Prague. Besides this marginally interesting detail the story is rather boring - widowed dad with 12 year old daughter falls in love with a woman who transforms into a werewolf on full moon. I watched 3 episodes waiting for some additional secrets to be revealed - maybe the daughter is a vampire or the father used to be a serial killer, but nothing happened so far and the other reviews do not give any hints into this direction either. So, I let it be a boring family story and watch something else instead.

Reminds me of "Sucker Punch"
22 March 2023
A woman with lots of problems - financial, family - escapes mentally into different parallel worlds where she is some kind of heroine determined to save all worlds and fights against an evil entity which she thinks has taken over the tax collector and her daughter and is to blame for everything. Some unneccessary vulgarity, very boring plot, non-interesting characters. Inconsistent ways to travel to parallel universes - e.g. Pee your pants, blow into the nose of somebody or start dancing. It is like a low-budget movie made by students. This movie is way too long for what it delivers, should have finished after part 1 (there are three parts - everything, everywhere and all at once). I did not enjoy a single scene. The references to - much better - movies like "Ratatouille" and "The Matrix" were childish and lame. I cannot comprehend why this movie won any Oscar.

Read the book

And forget the movie. This applies to all of Kubrick's movies. So disappointing.

Catastrophe (2015–2019)

So boring
29 October 2020
I came across this while zapping through channels, read the info and thought, great, a British series. Like Black Books, The IT Crowd, Life on Mars, Absolutely Fabulous. All the Movies with Simon Pegg.

Maybe one has to be married to like it. Maybe it was just translated badly. Maybe one has to know and like the actors to enjoy it. But it was so boring, boring people doing boring things and talking boring stuff. Not fun at all. I watched series 2, episode 3. The whole episode, because I was waiting for it getting as good as most reviews here suggest it is.

Sawbones (1995 TV Movie)

Somehow funny in a strange way
26 September 2020
I haven't seen this movie for a long time, so maybe I would rate it differently now. But when I first saw it, I thought, oh. Something different. I remember this guy doing a liposuction with a vacuum cleaner - this was so bizarre it was almost funny. Adam Baldwin does a real good job as the disturbed young man who has been messed up by his dad but is very determined to be a surgeon, no matter what. I don't think this movie was meant as a crime movie but rather some kind of dark comedy. And as such it is good.

Flashforward (2009–2010)

Not as good as the book it is based on
17 February 2020
I read the book "Flashforward" by Robert Sawyer, which is 10 * for me. A year later this came to TV. They should have made a movie, not a TV series. The story has a beginning, a middle and an end. It describes a special event and its consequences. It is not about a group of people whose daily life we watch in episodes for years until nobody is interested in their life any more.

The Strain (2014–2017)

A lot of ugly looking zombies that have a Master. And a father struggling to get his family back.
9 April 2019
It starts out like a vampire movie but soon becomes a mixture of Alien, The Stand and some Zombie movie. I actually think this series is not so bad, but I just hate Zombies and would have preferred good-looking vampires that do their stuff the traditional way instead of Living Dead that dock alien-like on people's necks with their ultra-long, strange looking tongue. And, of course, it must be a German nazi who brings death to the USA.

I enjoyed this movie a lot
11 May 2018
I would like to have the smartphone this guy gets ... it is so beautiful. I came across this movie by coincidence while zapping through TV channels. Great idea, very entertaining and an unexpected end.

After reading many of those reviews here - "this is a copy of Eagles Eye" - I thought, great, another movie like this, I must see it. But honestly, I could not watch "Eagles Eye" to the end. It was too boring. So ... no. Both movies are based on a similar idea (like other movies: Colossus, I Robot, The Matrix or even Tron), but that's it. Maybe people who have watched "Eagles Eye" before and loved this movie will not like the "Echelon Conspiracy", I don't know.

It is not a deadly serious movie, though. Sometimes a little irony shows and sometimes it made me smile. To me, "Echelon Conspiracy" is one of those few movies I can watch more than one time and enjoy those small details I discover.
