Single Parents (2018)
Something that parents can watch WITH their kids! What?!
Finally a show that is decent enough that I can enjoy and watch with my kids who are 9,10 & 12. Some jokes I get, some jokes they get but all in all, it is a pleasant show to watch and true to life.
I think as the seasons progress (if the network will give it time) my rating will increase.
Great actors, adult and child and Brad Garret is sexy, or maybe it is only because he is 6'8, like he says in one episode. Either way, relaxing, enjoyable entertainment that is a break from the stress of everyday life!
Kidding (2018)
Disturbing in so many ways but also touching
No one could portray Mr Pickles but Jim Carrey. His acting in this show is beyond superb and Mr. Pickles kind and gentle ways contrast so with what we see men portrayed as. One line when Jeff is speaking with his father who is basically treating him like a child, Jeff says "I am a man just a different kind of one" so true and beautiful.
The disturbing parts (such as what his sister catches her husband doing or the deaths) are necessary to portray real life circumstances and behaviour that contrast so much with Mr Pickles.
A must see show and with one episode you will be in love with Mr Pickles.
The Shop (2018)
Don't understand what is up with the bad reviews
I certainly hope that the bad reviews will not stop HBO from airing more episodes. My husband and I watched it in Canada. Might I add we are as white as white can be and loved the show.
We liked the insight into what it is like to be black in America. How growing up poor and black and then becoming a superstar athlete made them question why people in their college liked them. How Snoop Dogg said that living as a black in America you don't realize that in other countries they don't treat people of colour the same way. Things you don't realize until you travel.
Also, I love Jon Stewart and always will. I liked how it was a group of men discussing feelings, so rarely seen in person and something I think young men growing up should be exposed to.
Hoping for more episodes
Here and Now (2018)
What is up with the bad reviews?
I can't really understand where the negative reviews are coming from. I am totally invested in this show from day one. Every character is so well written and complex, like people actually are. It is nice to see a show where people respond to situations as they would out here in the real world.
The mystery with Ramon and the connection to Farid, is a mesmerizing plot line. Nice to see a show where they are able to show the human side of race relations, religious differences as well as the parent dynamic. All marriages have problems and how those issues are dealt with here, makes it real. I find myself in tears at times throughout the season as it touches me in a deep way that few shoes can. Every actor is spectacular!
