Am i the only one who got a feminist undertone?
10 March 2023
This movie reminded me of The Suspiria remake. It obivously has a familiar plot however the undertone that women share throughout the movie was genius! Everytime some guys downplays or ignores a woman's approach, the other women in the room subtly get upset. Also it was slowburn but not boring or dragged out. It plays out well and concludes well. The messages, foreshadowings and the "hero" of the movie is well picked and the intent is obvious in a good way. Also the gloomy romanian setting with relatable, genuine local characters with a non stereotypical approach is refreshing. I really think this movie is one for the observant people. I loved it.

Not for the eye-rolling "ughh FEMINISTS" type
2 January 2023
AMAZING directing, amazing acting, amazing soundtracks and amazing twists. It is heart breaking, it's fun and unfortunately pretty accurate. In fact it reminded me some of the traumatic incidents that I've forgotten about. The lack of "satisfying" scenes make it even more intense. Also I think it was a good angle that it is not gender/profession/"type of person" specific, when it comes to the general approach. Even though it's obvious that this lands on everyone, It's sad that the ones who can understand this movie's underlining reality are the one's whom already have had somewhat awareness on the subject to begin with. Nonetheless a must watch.

I love Stephen Hawking , I've hated this

I don't know if that was intentional but this was actually infinite. Don't get me wrong, i love astronomy, theoretical physics and/or quantum physics, and i loved netflix's documentary about black holes. It WAS informative and actually shocking. But this is 15 minutes of information, 75 minutes of existential, visual and emotional fillers. I had to watch it in two sittings feeling embarrassed that I'm bored but around 50th minute i realized that this is a rookie and/or hastily prepared work. There are some interesting things to learn in there somewhere but they get lost between narrative, childish animations and personal stories. Sad that it makes astronomy look boring.

Umm... And?
24 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILER ALERT*** After 4 episodes of long montages, talks of random people and unimportant letter readings, you finally see that they can't reveal a motive. But apparently everyone loved the kid.

Not worthy of time
24 February 2021
Other then some basic background stories about the hotel, some worthy pieces of investigation information and an interesting ex-hotel manager this was a waste of time. Filled with highly (and wrongfully) opinionated "web sleuths" , their "investigations" and never ending talks, it came as a surprise to me that netflix actually made this happen. It's annoying watching so many random people talk about so many things that they have no idea about.

I usually find movies rated between 4-6 entertaining but boy was this a mislead. I tried really hard to like it and as far as the first half goes it was promising. But the never-ending terrible twists, the mediocre reactions of the characters to life changing events and over all plot and acting... The longer the the movie went the worse it got so if you like B type movies just consider this a 2-4 rated one and just don't think about it too much.

I don't get the low rating

It's obviously not a game changer but still fun to watch. Acting is good, shots and visuals are fine, it even has the latest best horror addition in the industry : javier botet. I'd say do not skip a nice, fun scare.

Not worthy of your time

Felt like made hastily just for promoting the animes on netflix, ignoring all the milestones of the genre, with an annoying host who has no idea about anything, a total waste of time.

Not confusing just incomplete

Warning: Spoilers
The movie goes great until a certain point which is actually the ending. All the building up - mom being biologist, the drawings on evolution, the creepy nanny, creepy books- creates a great puzzle and a variety of theories for the viewer. It gives the feeling of suspense beautifully but the ending doesn't fulfill all the work that was put in. It's not even a "think hard you'll get there" kind of ending. It's just... disappointing.
