These days, shows that have a slightly different angle, and do it well, are few and far between. This, though, is a really enjoyable show. The storylines are interesting, it's shot in some great locations and the acting is pretty good. Particularly from Justin Hartley, who comes across really well.
The supporting cast do a good job and they all fit together well. There's the bonus of some good actors popping up, from other shows, in guest roles.
As another bonus, the soundtrack has some pretty good songs in it, too. I am glad it got a second season and I hope it survives the annual network cull, where being a good show isn't often enough to ensure survival.

I am a Sterling K Brown fan and I caught him being interviewed about this series and thought I'd give it a go. During the first episode, I thought it might turn out to be a dam squib. It was very slow for the first 50 minutes and then, BOOM, the big reveal at the end of the episode!
Since that moment, it's just just kept on driving forward at a great pace, peeling back the layers and leaving every episode on a cliffhanger.
The writing is good. The cinematography creates just the right look that you'd expect in that... environment. The acting is excellent. They also have some great remixes of classic songs.
My only gripe, and it's a small one, is that some of the flashbacks can be a bit disjointed. But not in a way that makes the developing storyline any less engrossing.
Definitely worth your time!

After watching this series for years, I have finally got round to posting a review, after 8 episodes of Season 28!
The last couple of series had just flagged a but with a rather tedious boss (played by Aki Omoshaybi) weighing it down. However, the addition of Maggie Steed as the acerbic and very amusing boss, has really added some vim and zinger one-liners.
The addition of Francesca Mills was also a good moves, with her super-keen nerdy character being very engaging.
The two leads (Emilia Fox and David Caves) continue to do a great job and the plots remain inventive and interesting.
Well worth watching!
