Battleship (2012)
3/10
A movie for the simple minded
12 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If you enjoy movies that are contrived, predictable, with no plot, horrible writing, horrible acting, no connection to any of the characters and great CGI, then this movie is for you!

The premise of the movie is ridiculous. A loser rises in the ranks to become an incompetent officer? How? Aliens attack Earth. Why? The aliens sure look a lot like humans. Why? Sailors take a decommissioned ship to sea to fight the aliens in a matter of hours. What? Decommissioned ships are not battle ready but this one has live munitions on board?! More questions than answers.

You know who is going to live and die but it doesn't matter. You don't care. The writing is so bad that you don't develop any connection to the characters.

The CGI is good so if that's all you need to be entertained, then please! Waste your time watching this movie.

I almost shut the movie off twice because it is so bad, but since I knew I would write a review about it, which I rarely do, I knew I had to watch it all.

Saved by the Bell (1989–1992)
1/10
Promotes the worst of human behavior
3 June 2018
'Saved By the Bell' focuses on a group of pretentious, entitled and shallow high school students whose repugnant behavior is always somehow justified at the end of the show. Deceptive, lying, cheating, insulting and rude behavior all forgiven by a hug and an 'I'm sorry' at the end of the episode only to do it all over again the next episode. The message this show sends? It's ok to behave reprehensibly as long as you say you're sorry afterwards. Keep impressionable kids away from this show.

Hairspray Live! (2016 TV Movie)
6/10
Disappointing
7 December 2016
With audio drop outs, shaky camera work, poor direction and a lead actress constantly out of breath and whose dancing was fair at best, this was difficult to watch. The frequency and length of commercial breaks was annoying. The stand out was Derek Hough. We all know he is a great dancer but the guy can sing too! During the bows at the end of the show, the director cut away just as Kristen Chenowith was about to come into camera view for her bow. Yikes! As a huge draw for the show, this goof was an insult to her and an example of the poor directing. NBC can't seem to pull off these live shows without some glaring mistakes.
