Good, not great.
21 January 2021
Theres some good acting here to be sure. Gibsin and Penn nail their parts. Natalie Dormer is also very good in her role. Beyond that the parts about words, diction etc are interesting, theres a bit of professional rivalry for some conflict in the movie. I didn't feel though that Dr. Minor's situation was ever well explained. The story is quite melodramatic and bit of a stretch to imagine why these characters would go to the lengths they do with the seemingly minor motivations they have. Beyond that its a slow movie for certain. An okay watch but nothing to get excited about.

Don't waste your time here. 100 minutes of not much happening
14 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
As the title line implies I was very underwhelmed with this movie.

The biggest problem with this movie is that not very much happens. It is way longer than it needs to be. The events that occur might merit about half the running length of this film. What does happen in the movie is drawn out to painful lengths during which the makers try to use melancholy, albeit decent orchestral music to make it feel dramatic, with limited success.

The story is alright and adds a little redeeming quality, the acting isn't bad. The two main characters are reasonably attractive young girls and there is a bit of brief nudity, so there's that, but if you are watching for that you will be very disappointed I'm afraid.

Overall, way too slow.

Okay idea, terrible execution...

Warning: Spoilers
I just spent (wasted) the last 1:45 minutes of my life on this. Don't make that mistake unless you want to see some awful special effects paired with some even worse acting. They also cast some of the ugliest people I have seen in movies period. The budget must have been about 70 bucks for this whole film.

I just cant say enough bad things about this movie. I only got on here to write a review to try to get you to avoid wasting your time.

I will give it one prop though...the idea behind the movie is kind of intriguing. An alien - human hybrid child and a look at how it might be received by people. However it is done so poorly any goodness of the idea was lost in the pile of refuse that is this movie.

Did I mention this movie is gross and boring ?

Snowpiercer (2013)

A not so great movie, with a sort of novel concept story.
24 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Basically this movie is almost 2 hours of pointless violence that ends with the last few remaining human survivors killing themselves in a very stupid way. Sure, it has a kind of interesting plot twist right at the end, but its definitely not anything near worthy to justify the rest of this movie. You only barely get to even care at all about any of the characters because there is just so much fighting that there is almost no time for character development. The fighting is not particularly well done either; its not totally unbelievable but neither is it very convincing.

In summation, a modestly interesting story that is only a small portion of the movie doesn't salvage this train wreck (yes that's an intentional pun) Overall, disappointing and feel free to move along to something else, you aren't missing much.

An OK movie, with a few cool scenes; could have been much better.

This movie was okay; and that's really the best thing I can say for it. I really feel like they tried to make a movie with as little dialog as possible.

I wish two of my favorites Jennifer and Russel had not been in it, because that's really the only thing that drew me to it in the first place. They play their parts just fine, the storyline just isn't interesting or intriguing, at all.

The movie doesn't really stick to the biblical version of the story nor does it completely re-write the story. Its a weird mix of the two that just does not really work for me. There are a few cool scenes with some neat CGI, but they don't even come close to justifying this long, slow film.

After Earth (2013)

Flawed Gem

This was a good movie, it could have been great, but it had some flaws that kept it from hitting those heights. Namely: Will Smith's acting for one, he was NOT believable as a hardened general. The kid in the movie has a dumb accent that is pointless and doesn't fit. Earth would not have changed radically in 1000 years, and certainly not to the extent that this movie depicts; nor is there any point in it being earth...it could've been an unnamed planet and would've been less preposterous. Also, the stuff the kid goes through would've killed anyone, but of course as the hero he survives. We can forgive this, but some of the unnecessary other bit are less forgivable since they don't add to the story or plot development. The rest was good to OK. The special effects were alright to good and the explanations for the rest of the movie suffice.
