Experiment in Torture (2007)
A Muddled Mess
That about sums this "film" up a mess no plot no story no acting no special effects no point....
The film starts off at a strip joint then follows 2 guys who kill 2 stripper guess I that's what they do the film is so grainy and dark... oh yeah one more 'no' no lighting... that you can't see any of the first few minutes.
We cut back to the bar and the girls have been invited to take part in a "fetish film" they go to a "secluded" cabin in the what appears to be the middle of a city. they spend the next hour doing stupid things in the middle of the day made night by using a blue filter (you can tell this because the sun is too bright and actually shines through the blue filter) a few girls die in unimaginative ways using very poor f/x....
The End for me any ways I got though an hour of the film and it was so painful I felt like killing myself in a more imaginative way filming it and sending it to those that make this mess perhaps giving them an idea...
Turistas (2006)
What Happened in this film??!?!?!
Seriously, I sat though the entire film my eyes glued to the screen... Not because of the suspense or anything but afraid I was going to blink and miss something that might explain what the (EXPLETIVE DELETED) was going on in this film. I was doing all right 'till they re-met up with 'Kiko' (I only watched it an hour or so ago and I've already forgotten all the characters names except for Bee and I only remember it cause I thought "Gee that's not a named used in films that often anymore"). Was he helping them or leading them to there death?
And in the cave why the sudden change of heart to take them back to the village rather then to the house?
What was the catalyst for that decision?
Same for the 'Nurse' that tells them to run, then does nothing else to aide them.
Yes the locations were colourful and interesting and wonderfully shot but that's not the only reason I see a film if I wanted only that I'd go see one of the IMAX films about volcano's or dolphins.
As for T&A I know it's part of horror because Horror and sex are so interchangeable just think about the emotions associated with either... But I am gay so I don't care about seeing boob or male nudity for that matter I want a Story, you know a plot that you can follow where there is a beginning build-up, climax and end. None of these existed in this film unless you count that the movie started and then stopped.
All the previews lied about the tone of the film being comparable to Saw and Eli Roth's two films for me a little gore does not a horror make I like it bloody and/or suspenseful like a good Stephen King outing this was neither!
Continuity flaw: where did they get the flashlights for both of the underwater/subterranean scenes, didn't they lose all there stuff and I didn't see kiko bring anything with them? Or did I blink?
And Regarding the 'How dare you knock/badmouth another country' comments most or these include a "don't point fingers" style comment. This film from my limited understanding of it was NOT a commentary on Brazil as is the same with Hostel and it's setting... it was simply the setting of the film you could make a similar film using Any-Town-USA and using tourists to that place (read Texas Chainsaw Massacre). Just because an 'American' Film is set in another country does not mean that is is commenting on or not commenting on the socio-economic/religious beliefs/practices/politics/polices of that country. If this film had been made by a Brazilian filmmaker would it receive these same comments?
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Nice Joke when's the real one coming
As I sat in the second row of the theater in anticipation with rowdy youngsters surrounding's me and my partner jumping all over the place and teens climbing over chairs to get from row to row finally after about 45 minites the lights dim and fifteen minutes of comericals start for cars, hair dye and make up (all the things children need) then the trailers... from the looks of them it's gonna be a dry movie season! Finally a half hour later the feature presentation starts I'm dancing in my seat as we see the WB shield fly at us and then the opening two minutes later my jaw drops and I ask "who the hell is that?" well I figured it out then the movie went down hill from there too much was left out of it.
Mike Newell's refusal to make a movie longer then two and half hours made it so that there was too much left out I can't believe that Steve Kloves' script was that bad after all he wrote the others and I to go from great scripts to what I saw in one movie I don't believe it.
The few good things: Brenden Gleeson as 'Mad-Eye' I can't wait to see him as the real Mad-Eye! Emma, Hermione keeps getting better and better the scene after the Yule Ball where she screams at Harry and Ron that they ruined anything. The ferret scene, 'nuff said. Maggie Smith, pure gold the scene where McGonnal (i can never spell her name right) is teaching the Gryffidors to dance priceless 'Harry(to the twins): You're never gonna let him live this down' 'Twins: nope' If Newell directs another potter film I will be skipping it (Gods I hope the can bring back Alfonso Cuarón)
Flashpoint (1998)
I would recommend anything with Jenna
And this is coming from a gay guy.
Jenna Jameson has to be the the most talented actress, and I will use the word Actress and not model, in the adult film industry, not only that, I would say that she is one of the most powerful and influential women in Adult Ent. leading the way in Condom-only sets and speaking about AIDS/HIV and STD's infection in the Adult Entertainment Industry.
Flashpoint has everything a couple could want in a xxx film a Plot that has a cogent storyline not just a "Oh Look the plumber is here, and I'm a lonely housewife let's seduce him" story, decent acting, from the female cast anyways Jenna of course out shine all, the women are hot, the men unfortunately as with all straight xxx film are not the best looking and under normal circumstances it would not matter IE. films obviously meant for straight men only (Stage and Gonzo films) but I view films of this stature, what my former employer Adults Only Video (AOV) would classify as "Couples Appeal)as for couples so both partners need to be "entertained" so just a recommendation Industry appeal to both partners not just one or the other.
Again if you like Flash point try some of Jenna's other films
-Satyr
-Jenna's Revenge
-Dangerous Tides
-Wicked Weapon Or even some of her all female cast film's.
