Azhagi (2002)
A Story of all never narrated like this before
"Azhagi" is a story about a Veterinary Doctor Shanmugam, who recalls his childhood days, falling in love with a Girl who studied with him at the School. Thangar Batchan who added the Art of Light as a Cinematographer and who was an artistic writer has adapted his own novel "Kalvettu" for his debut movie as a Director in "Azhagi". The success of this movie is the theme of Love which is common to all classes of audience. Everyone watching this movie will surely recall their past life. Thangar Batchan has done a very good casting work, selecting the Child Artistes exactly resembling the faces of Actress Nandita Das and Actor Parthiban. Each and every cast of the film has performed their roles very naturally. The only thing which we may feel uncomfortable is the Comedy Track by Vivek which didn't fit very well in the film. There is one more person to be praised in this film. He is none other than Maestro Ilaiya Raaja. His contribution of music has made this film one step ahead for success. The Songs "Oliyile..." and "Paatu Cholli..." are evergreen melodies in People's mind. The Theme Score for the film takes us to the unique feeling of the Love. This film has been considered a Trend Setting that any film with simplicity and artistic presentation of a Good Story will be truly appreciated by the audience.
Avvaiyyar (1953)
A Great Movie dedicated to the Great Tamil Poet and Saint
"Avvaiyyar" is a great movie dedicated to the Great Tamil Poet and Saint Avvaiyyar who lived in the early centuries. The creators of the movie collected information from different sources about Avvaiyyar and had written a comfortable Screenplay and made this Film. There are two main aspects of this movie. One, the leading cast K. B. Sundarambal, an established Actress and Singer, who lived as Avvaiyyar in this Movie. The other is the leading crew, the Producer of the Movie who created a history in the Tamil Film industry by making this Excellent Movie with thousands of casts, a breath-taking sequence with hundreds of elephants and massive Sets. The Cinematographer and the Special Effects designer had done their best to make this Film more effective. It is still unimaginable, how this film was made on those days. Now-a-days there are many advanced technologies and many leading Producers in this Tamil Film industry. Even though they have money, they don't have the mind or dedication to make these Genres of Movies. For Gemini Pictures the Movies Avvaiyyar (1953) and Chandralekha (1948) were milestones of their Production Era.
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
Extra-ordinary
E.T. is one of my most favorite movies. I like Steven Spielberg movies. He always have the kids as the lead characters in many movies. And also the Alien character is narrated harmless and non-violent which is very impressive to me. The Cinematography and Special Effects are simply superb. And in specific, I've to mention the inspiring Music Score of the 5 times Academy Award Winner (including E.T.) John Williams. I never forget his Theme Music to this movie and I'm still hearing the sounds.
The movie overall is Great! I watched this movie's 2002 (DTS version) at Theatre for the first time and many times on TVs.
