Loves itself far too much

I watched this because I saw a comparison with Line of Duty. Well, there's a woman in it that was in Line of Duty, but that's where the similarities end! It's not gritty. It's not believable, like Line of Duty. The people that are giving it good reviews, are obviously terrestrial TV cop show viewers that have come over from Sunday evening on ITV. To them, this is probably a step up. But if you want real life interrogations, watch real life interrogations of people like Chris Watts on YouTube. You'll see the difference!

Sick of It (2018–2020)

Not laughed once.

It's clear that Gervais and Merchant knew exactly how to get the best out of Karl. If they'd have written this sitcom for him, it would have probably worked. Because they knew what was so weird / funny / intriguing about Karl. He doesn't. So that comes across. It just isn't funny without the Ying and Yang of questioning his thought process. You can tell that the writers and Karl were trying to capture that, with the '2nd Karl'acting as his consiense. But it just doesn't work. Falls flat on its face. Karl's schtick has always been his natural ignorance , combined with Ricky and Steve poking him with a stick at Just the right time. This is contrived bollocks and misses the essence of him, completely. Get back on the phone with Ricky Gervais, Karl. You both need each other .
