This is a great watch
12 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is a great watch. Reading some of the negative reviews about the casting here are somewhat disappointing and designed to put people off. People need to understand this is an adaptation of a book and doesn't have to be identical.

Having read the book, and watched the film, I thought this did it brilliantly. It had its own uniqueness and diversity - which is not being welcomed by many.

I thought the characters were cast right and showcase the diversity in relationships while offering hope/something to relate to for those from different backgrounds.

Naturally, the story is one of friendship, love, discovery and tragedy and this series gave the viewer all of this alongside the want to watch all the way through. Even knowing the story, this series enables the viewer to continue to speculate and wonder what happens next.

If coming to this new - ignore bigotry on casting and give it a go for yourself. If you're not new - still give it a go, it's still a great watch.

Cute, hilarious, odd and cringe all in one
19 March 2023
Took me a while to get into this but have to say I really enjoyed it. It felt quite raw to watch - here you have an actor acting as an actor depicting his struggle to love, be comfortable with himself to let others in. It's a struggle not often spoken about among gay men and albeit a diversion from a lot other gay movies out there, I think this depicted the matter really well and shone a light on an - in my opinion - untouched topic.

It's also a funny film, cringe in some areas where I found myself saying out loud "ohhh nooo" but I think that added to the charm and cuteness of the film. Definitely worth the watch!

A reminder of hope
1 January 2023
My Mum has told me for a while how fond she is of Pride and I've finally watched it. Absolutely stunning and beautifully casted too.

This film is a reminder of where we've been and what we've achieved as a community - standing in solidarity with all those who fall on hardship.

It is also a reminder that hope can be found. In rekindling old relationships, and starting new ones In friendships and love. This film does it subtly but what it screams is unity in its best form.

I almost didn't want it to end but am so grateful that people fought to make life easier for millions to love - thank you!

Gripping

As a child, growing up in the North West, we learnt about Lowry and the powers of Northern industry that was. Watching this completed that story and reaffirmed my love for his work and now, his story and what inspired him.

Wish this was longer

Great short film that highlights the tension two may have when there's a one-way/unexplored attraction. Would've been great for this to be explored out a bit further.
