The Voices (2014)
An interesting Serial Killer Deep Dive
I've heard so much about this movie recently as it leaves Amazon Prime Video so I decided to watch. Here are a few thoughts I have in a numbered list.
1. Comedy? No, unless you find documentaries about Albert Fish, Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy funny. This is constantly being listed as a Comedy first. It ABSOLUTELY is not a comedy. I enjoy most humor even if it's not PC but calling this a comedy should be legally actionable.
2. Someone (I can't remember who, unfortunately) stated that if you liked Donnie Darko, you will like this. This person has no clue and should not be on the internet. It became clear to me as I watched that whomever stated that did not watch Donnie Darko and simply read the plot layouts of both movies.
3. Most synopses of this movie, besides getting the comedy part completely wrong, also state that both pets are evil. Anyone who states this should never be taken seriously as Bosco is obviously not evil.
4. The acting is incredible. Personally, I feel that Ryan Reynolds' acting in Deadpool is perfect. His acting here is only a step below the Deadpool role but far beyond anything he's ever done. The cast as a whole made this movie really good for me.
Overall, This was a solid 7 based on my viewing. I found very little in this movie funny and the animals were pretty stereotypical if your only a dog person (even though puppy was a good boy). I wasn't disappointed by the movie just irritated the gullible who don't understand what a comedy is or that cats are not as evil as they may think. Watch and judge for yourself.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
I'm sorry - Was the X-Men 3 Version not bad enough?
Has Simon Kinberg even read an X-Men comic? Why would he attempt this in X-Men: The Last Stand and then use the exact same plot ideas in a larger movie when the previous one failed so badly?
On a side note: people who rated this more than 5 out of 10 were more than likely to have rated The New Mutants less than 3 out of 10.
Okay. Read "The Dark Pheonix Saga" as written by Chris Claremont and Illustrated by John Byrne.
I know Hollywood has to adapt based on what they can get away with, but regardless. The story has been warped in such a way that the original loses what it stood for.
Kinberg more than likely has read the Dark Phoenix Saga. What saddens me is that he believes his image is ALL above anything that has come before. It fails. It fails to understand the emotion. It fails to understand the loss. It fails to understand the manipulation of the Mastermind.
I don't understand how this can be the SECOND version of Dark Phoenix in the X-Men Movies, fail to follow any real part of the comics and STILL be rated higher than The New Mutants.
I am starting to think that the world doesn't deserve a great X-Men movie.
The New Mutants (2020)
Not horrible
I'm amused at the people who have rated this poorly. Is it a classic? No. The writing isn't the greatest. Sunspot's abilities are not my favorite. However, I get the feeling that the people who watched this and gave it a rating of 1 out of 10 also believed that X-Men:Dark Phoenix was a far better movie than this.
