Bad Sisters (2022)
Bad Sisters, Wonderful TV Series.
I had just written a long and I thought a really good review for Bad Sisters , then something happened and it's gone ? . So I'll start again , this is a brilliantly funny show, superbly written , produced and acted by Miss Sharon Horgan , who plays Eva Garvey ,one of the five Garvey sisters , there's Grace ,played by Anne-Marie Duff , BiBi , played by Sarah Greene , Ursula , played by Eva Birthistle , and Rebecca, the youngest of the sisters ( Becca to her sisters and anyone else who asks her name . Then there's John Paul ! Married to downtrodden Grace , he is a Monster ,not in the physically abusive sense , but this person could make your blood boil just watching him going through his little schemes , his conniving and his furtive looks , played by a Danish actor , Claes Bang , it's a credit to his skill as an actor that you would think he is a born and bred Irish " monster" . He will be the new " the man you love to hate " ,have no doubts about that. Wonderfully written for TV by Miss Horgan , adapted from a Danish show called "The Out-Laws , with a brilliant soundtrack , great theme music , wonderful intro sequence , some of the funniest lines I have heard in any comedy series. And every one of the sisters is perfect for their role, but I must say Eve Hewson is so funny in a lot of the scenes with her sisters, and the guy who plays Matt , who she's kind of set her sights on , and then she is so scary in her confrontation with John Paul ! And Brian Gleeson is also very funny as Matt's stepbrother . Congratulations to all on a great big hit , especially to a very talented Sharon Horgan for producing ,writing, acting in it. A tour de force . Emmy's a coming by the hat-full 👍👍👍
Enola Holmes (2020)
Some people need to relax and enjoy a movie as entertainment , not a history lesson
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie , excellent cast , very good acting by the main leads , especially Millie Bobby Brown as Enola and Henry Daniell as Sherlock .The period detail was excellent . I didn't give it a 10 for only one reason , I expected or was expecting a different resolution to the main plot of the mother being missing . I won't give any spoilers so that's all I'll say , but it's a really well made movie ,good actors, enjoyable script, well directed , honestly , how could you not enjoy it when you see some of the rubbish that pours out of Hollywood regularly these days. Lighten up , it's not Arthur Conan Doyle, it's not meant to be , it's not about Sherlock , it's about Enola Holmes , and very good she is too. I hope there are more coming . 8/10 👍
Midsomer Murders: Death and the Divas (2013)
Writing,script,acting, all bad
I don't watch a lot of midsomer, but in no way would this ever encourage me to become a fan. This was so bad, it was almost like a black comedy. The acting by the main characters, with the exception of Sinead Cusack, was awful, very hammy .and the premise for the murders ( come on, wrapped in bandages like a mummy and suffocated was one ? ) . Honestly, when actors and crew are filming this stuff, doesn't anybody actually stop and think "Hang on People, this is a bit much , we can't do that . And here's a possible spoiler, so be warned. Who actually cut the brake cables on the villains car, when the villain is revealed ? This person, from what I recall, had committed all the villainous acts, so who cut the brake cables on their vehicle . This would have worked better as a spoof, it was that laughable . Ps : I can't be certain as I did not record this, but in one scene I'm sure that one of the female characters ( the one who sells the organic vegetables ) calle the police officer " Detective Tillman " which was her husband name , not the police officer ?
