The People Are Bothered...
25 November 2021
And that's all I have to say about that. Midway through the autumn 2021 season, there are only 3 shows I look forward to weekly. Ghosts on CBS, Chucky on USA and 4400. The negative reviews on this series seem a bit loaded and rooted... The show is actually pretty good so far and does a good job of pacing itself to unroll the mystery of the 4400.

Meh...
25 November 2021
I agree with the idea that the story moves too slow, but for me, it's always been moderately interesting. It's at least interesting enough for me to turn it on every week. But the biggest gripe I have is that it's moving faster than some shows, but people haven't granted it the same courtesy they've given others. You could literally skip the first four episodes of Wandavision, yet social media haled it as the best thing ever after only two episodes. So I say give it a chance... go into it with the mindset of this being a drama and the action will pick up later on.

Love Hard (2021)

Genuinely quite surprised...

Warning: Spoilers
I went into this movie expecting it to just be white noise while I computer surfed like I've done with most recent Netflix movie releases. I was enthralled pretty early on. There were some witty lines and great comedic moments that let me know that this wasn't just another mediocre internet release. However, it was quite predictable, and I found myself hoping that it wouldn't take that route. That maybe Josh would help her and she would help him, and then a strong friendship would come along that would turn romantic years down the line, if at all. I wanted something different... i was not looking forward to seeing the cat fisher get the girl... but i guess it's true, Catfishes be human too. This could've easily been a 7 or 8 rating- but the ending killed that shot.

As Someone Who Watched the British version in preparation for this...

US version is better. Some of the same jokes are used in the pilot episode, and even in the third... but they're executed better. I do think the show's weakest point is the husband. He could've been cast better, but everything and everyone else is spot on.

So... it was bad
26 June 2021
At the beginning, it lists all of these awards it's received. I went in thinking that maybe this was an independent film gem. It was not. Much of its low rating was based on the acting, which is poor from the beginning. The concept was interesting, but that was about it. That being said, it holds its morals. It tries to teach its lessons. There's just a lot going on. But it's par for the course in time travel stories, and this film relies so heavily on it that it's hard to take it seriously almost immediately. But then it keeps happening over and over, until they set up the final twist at the end. It feels like there may have been too many writers trying to put forth too many messages, or possibly just too many characters considering each person introduced in a new time period is essentially a new character, as they differ from the original version. With a story like this, less could've been more- it would at least cause less confusion.

A less fun version of Timer...
23 March 2021
If you've ever seen the movie, Timer (starring Emma Caulfield), you'll understand. And I'd you haven't, go check it out. It's budget is probably less than this, but they do much better with the material. Like other reviewers have said, they focus too much on the wrong things. There's a technology that matches you with your one true love, why in the world are we talking about Corporate greed as the main focal point? Timer chose to highlight all the ways, in which, this technology could go wrong, so I actually went into this movie thinking it would be similar. It wasn't. I only really got onto one storyline, while the rest of the show started out as filler and easily became white noise as the episodes progressed.

So... I actually loved it
7 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I will agree with some that say it's not a horror, and if you go by Americanized Horror, it absolutely was not one of those films. I'll even give that the climax wasn't as huge as it was leading up to. But it was a really good film to me. I really enjoyed it. It was quite hilarious at moments, but in a very good way. Mostly, what intrigued me was how the film was taking a look at the psychos of 90s. Had this been set in today's time, the guy would easily be a radicalized Qanon theorists... but because it was the 90s, he was just a lonely incel with a videotape.

Maybe not an excellent execution, but pretty darn good

Jane and Lily find a good place to coexist in somewhat of a buddy comedy that deals with the hardships of getting older and the fears of doing it alone. Jane brings the sparkle and pizazz while Lily brings the holistic and hippie energy. I found it witty, and not silly. I think the show effectively tackles life changes at an older age. It gracefully dealt with these two men venturing off into the next chapter (no matter how short it's going to be- a joke from the first episode lol) with each other and how the family deals with this separation as the newly single ex-wives try to put the past behind them. I didn't think it was spectacular, but it was certainly worthy of the praise it has received.

I really wanted to like it...
26 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I made it all the way through it, though there were parts where I felt like dozing of (much like Les from the movie). I could've sworn the film that he fell asleep on was this one. I'm not going to give this film a 1, because part of the reason I was disinterested may have been from my own distraction. However, this film didn't help. It was slow. And very early on I was looking for the connection between the two male leads, but I never really got it. I thought maybe they were caught in a love triangle that would reveal itself near the end, but it never happened. This story was really just about two strangers in the night, and was truly nothing special. The stories of the two men weren't exactly unique, as they're things that normal coming of age gay men go through. So- in all, this was like watching two regular gay men, navigate themselves through life only to have a fling at the end of the movie. Nothing exciting happens.

In my opinion...
24 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually review films, but I began this movie with high hopes. The rating is at 6.4, which is damn near Oscar nomination worthy as far as lgbt movies go. 5 minutes in and I'm assaulted by atrocious acting. I thought to myself, maybe I got the movie mixed up. I came back to IMDb to look at some of the reviews, and what pains me most is one reviewer that gave this movie 10 stars admitting that the acting was horrible and that the script wasn't the best. And then this reviewer compared the movie to Shelter (which really was one of those Oscar nomination worthy as far as lgbt films go). But I decided to keep watching. The film really destroyed my concentration. It's not like there is just 1 bad actor, but a litter of them that come in the form of teachers and coaches and parents of the two teens. I'm all for letting a few things slide on account of budget issues, but lets call a spade a spade and admit that this was terrible. If we can't judge a film by the actors' ability to act or the script, then what criteria are we using to judge this? I hope that we're not judging based on the porn scene or the fact that the kids are naked quite a few times in the movie. The basics of the film's script were solid, but it needed to be polished quite a bit. I operate on a scale of 4 to 10, 4 being bad, 10 being outstandingly perfect. And few times I will use the rating of 1 just to say that the film was completely atrocious. I give this film a 4, which is the lowest on my basic scale and the only reason it didn't get a 1 is because the kid dies at the end, and I felt like justice was served. Just kidding. Like I said, the foundation of the script was solid, it was just executed very poorly.
