Whitmer Thomas: The Golden One (2020)
Moving, Unique, Amazing
Part documentary, part stand-up, part concert, this special is a satisfying rollercoaster ride through a young man's love, grief and triumph. It's raw and you may feel he's processing it all right in front of you. Definitely a laugh and cry kind of comedy. Reminds me a bit of Tig Notaro's One Mississippi.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
What a snore!
I expected an update since this film is set in the future, and not a prequel. Everything about this movie seemed dated. From the costumes to the music to the spacecraft to the plot points. What a waste 57 bucks to take my family of four to a 3D movie.
It seemed like the old time after school space serials I used to watch when I was in elementary school. Where did that giant budget go? The dialog was stilted. The cinematography was unimaginative. The attempts at humor were weak. I expected more from JJ Abrams!
It seems he was restrained from doing anything different with the original material.
I won't bother seeing the next one.
