Wish You Were Here (1987)

Not sure why this is rated so highly!

Only watch this if you like seeing a little girl getting taken advantage of by a man old enough to be her father. (Read spoilers)

I don't understand how anyone could like this.

It was very difficult to even finish.

The main character is not likable at all.

The one star is for her acting.

If you want to invest your time in this, it will just leave you feeling yucky in the end.

By the Sea (2015)

I really enjoyed this movie!!!

I have to say I read a lot of the reviews and was torn on renting By the Sea. After hearing the sad news that they were divorcing, I decided to rent it. I watched and enjoyed In the Land of Blood and Honey. I felt like I should be doing something with my life after watching it. Very good and engaging!

I think because I too was like Vanessa this movie really spoke to me.

Spoiler: I have unsuccessfully tried to get pregnant with my husband and went through extreme grief of miscarriage after miscarriage. It is heart breaking and can change a marriage for better or worse. I felt she (Angelina Jolie) did a good job showing that kind of numbing pain and wanting to see other people as miserable as you.

This film reminds me of Hithcock meets those black and white films of the 1950s about marriage. (that is the best description I could think of) I am not the typical American that likes Action, rom-coms, or comedy... I love indie films and this is one I would watch again.
