Marnow Murders (2021– )
8/10
Small German crime series, rating excellent.
3 April 2023
Watched all 8 episodes on a rainy weekend. As others have wrote here before, great actors, great scenery and excellent camera work.

In addition, a story that's almost as captivates as a Hitchcock, from the first to the last moment and deals with recent German history.

The course of the story, although with many participants, is still easy to follow. The background story of the two investigators is also perfectly integrated. How everything ultimately comes together is in the end an excellent small thriller series, in what is otherwise often quite the same German crime entertainment.

There is not a moment of boredom.

so much potential .. so little achieved

Great idea of a plot but so badly implemented. Too many logical mistakes for my taste and the story is rushed.

There were so many opportunities for a good, romantic story and smart moments. But it was all lost, due to the rushing from one story point to the next. No time for the story to develop a little deeper or the background of the characters become a little clearer.

Cheap copy of a classic

Everything is missing: good plot ideas, good actors and better transitions of the repetitive day. No comparison to the original (Groundhog Day).

OK, it's a schmaltzy Hollywood rom com, but there are so much better ones!

You really have to long for the "ideal world" if you want to give 10 stars for this one.

missing something

Warning: Spoilers
while I am watching a movie, I really don't like it to be reminded I am sitting in a cinema. But sorry Steven, thats the first film from you that reminded me all the time. Even though it has the typical Spielberg sci fi look: great camera movements (I have never seen a driving car orbited by the camera that way) spectacular special effects, light beams through floors and windows and even the usual flashlight is there. But for my taste there are to many moments in which I felt "its just a movie" No car is running, no telephone, no watch, nothing electronically is working but people taking pictures with their digicam ? A plane crashed on the house, absolutely everything is destroyed except the car in front of that building ?... and in all the debris there is even a little pathway to get away with the intact automobile. And the whole scene in the cellar was to long.

But what bothered me most is the missing answer to "Why" Why did a intelligent life form planned an attack, obviously thousands of years ago, on mother earth! It took Bill Pullman as President Whitmore in ID4 just one sentence to explain it all.

The aliens are hostile, mean and I personally would not invite them to dinner, so please give me a reason "Why" !
