FBI: International (2021)
It's a decent show
It's a decent show. Not the best, and not the worst. It's VERY stereotypical. The acting is so-so. It's unbelievable in that the FBI always seems to show up and takes control and the foreign country just lets them run rough-shod over the place. Car chases and shootouts are believable inside the US, but I doubt that every European country is going to be fine with Americans playing cowboys inside their countries. But if you suspend your beliefs and just watch it to be entertained? It's okay. I wish the plot lines were a little better and that things would be more realistic, but you can tell the actors want to put out a decent show. They do their best with what they have to work with. I am a very big fan of most of Dick Wolf's other shows, so I keep watching this one.
To sum it up. It's not the best show you'll ever watch, but it's not a horrible way to kill an hour. Just don't believe that it's all that realistic.
Alienate (2016)
It's a straight-up "B" movie
In my day this was the kind of movie you'd find when you went to the video store and stumbled across it on the shelf. It's a B movie. The acting is sub-par and the special effects are weak. The story is disjointed and depends to heavily on flashbacks. They flash around back and forth so much that it's often hard to follow the story. It wants to be science fiction and a drama at the same time and it fails at both. This movie is a story that really could have been something if it had better actors, a bigger budget and a better cinematographer. There was a lot of potential here, but it was poorly executed. If you are just watching it for the hell of it, it's a decent time killer. If you are looking for the next great indie movie? This isn't it.
The Last Days on Mars (2013)
Don't waste your time!
This is a horrible movie. Basically it's a zombie movie set on Mars. It follows all the clichés, is highly predictable and derivative. Worst of all, is that's it's not even a good zombie movie. Because they are trying to hit two different types of stories (a science fiction and a zombie movie) they don't execute either very well. I regret that I wasted an hour watching it. I had such high hopes for a good movie considering all the well known actors in it, but I ended up feeling such disappointment. I am rarely this harsh when reviewing a movie, but sadly this one deserves a harsh rating. It's just plain bad.
For All Mankind (2019)
Excellent acting & sets!
The acting is top notch! The background sets are realistic and excellent in their construction. The integration of old file and news footage is seamless. The story line has holes, but they are easily overlooked if you just fall into it being a "what if..." type fiction. It is a little heavy on the drama but you can't have the action without the story. It is stunning in its use of special effects. Well worth the time to invest if you want to be entertained!
See (2019)
5/10 is for acting & background sets.
The pros... The acting is top notch. The fact that people find the Queen so annoying is proof of that. The sets are amazing and the fight scenes are incredible!
The cons... the storyline is totally unbelievable and unrealistic. There are plot holes that you can drive a truck through. Contradictory and ridiculous ideas woven together to form a semi-interesting plot. I have to agree that the first thing that jumped out to me wasn't that they were dressed, comfort and protection even in warm weather would require it... but why is it so decorative? Why do blind people pull hoods over their heads to disguise themselves from other blind people? When the world ended, did all the engineers, doctors, mechanics and others with knowledge and intelligence die? If not then how did modern people fall back to the dark ages and stay there for 500+ years? Really? Building, a hydroelectric power plant and old clothes lasted 500+ years without maintenance or knowledge of how they worked or how to make new ones? Blind people riding horses or running through the woods at full speed without running into a tree or tripping on a root?
The fight scenes and sets are great, but the storyline isn't great. Just watch it for what it is... an action series.
