Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
Not All That Hype
What the world wanted was more Jack Sparrow, what we got was lots of Jack but no plot. From beginning to end I kept trying to find connections between from one scene to the next, how it was that all of these people got shoved into one movie, how everyone could find everyone in a matter of hours it seemed, and why Disney choose to wow the audience with CGI bad guys.
The First movie was amazing. Visually captivating and stunning, great plot and character development, wonderful lines, and of course Jack Sparrow. Movie two, brings everyone from the first movie (and I do mean everyone, supposed dead people as well. In fact people that were long dead in the first movie) I think it was gratuitous CGI, not enough plot and one hour too long. At the end of one there was a need to know what happened, but enough closure to make us feel like the last two hours of our lives weren't wasted, two does no such thing.
If you want great effects, funny parts, and a not so flamboyant Jack Sparrow, then this is the movie for you. But in all trilogies (less Star Wars) the second movie sucks so the third will blow you away, but nest time I won't be paying full price and it won't be at 12 pm.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002)
Scarface the game
I know that most of you already know this, but last night I was watching Scarface on SpikeTV and I was agog at similarities between the movie and the game. Both are set in Miami, suspiciously around the 80's, both want to take over Miami, both kill there bosses, both own huge mansions with the same exact interior, bath have the office at the top of the stairs, and both at the end of the movie have an end fight scene where the mansions perimeter is breeched and hoards of enemy troops try to make it upstairs to kill you. Luckily Tommy is a little more resilient then Tony Montana... If you haven't seen the film, go rent it and you'll be surprised
Ocean's Twelve (2004)
Why the movie?
Personally I think this movie was awful and should never have been made. Coupla reasons. 1) the whole mix up Julia Roberts w/ Julia Roberts was lame. 2) the ending was impossible to predict. and 3)George is not a good actor...
Maybe if they got some newer blood and made it a little easier to follow, and maybe if there wasn't this young better than Eleven guy it woulda been better.
BTW- I can;t believe that this IMDb makes you have at least 10 lines to make a comment. I summarize very easily. It almost makes me want to not write a comment.
Inspiración (2001)
Dumb and Dumber
The real reason that I watched this movie was that the lead actress Barbara Mori is only one of the hottest actresses to hit the scene in a while. The movie was poorly written and overacted, like most Novelas are. This movie goes down the same line as any cheesy love story: Boy looking for love, Finds hot girlfriend, falls in love, screws it up, makes fool of self trying to win back love, she resists, pulls out all stoppers, and win back the woman of his dreams, marriage, children. It was by far the worst acting/screen writing/directing that I have seen, but again its a B Mexican movie... But Barbara was unbelievably hot as always.
