Pure and utter disappointment...
16 September 2023
I was so hype for this movie.... I love artsy fartsy wacky stuff .... But this.... This was absolute nonsense from start to finish... My boyfriend nearly had a seizure from the grainy flashing lights that led to nothing... It all led to....nothing... I hate to trash anyone's project. Someone worked hard on this. But my lord! It was so bad and if you don't want to find yourself feeling as robbed and irritated as we are right now, I gotta tell ya- avoid this one.

As a parent, anything involving children does get to me...just imagining something like this happening to some youngsters is heartbreaking.. but that's about all it got outta me...kids alone in a dark house made my heart sad. That's it.

We actually started fast forwarding just to get it over with.

I just loved it so much

Literally, one of the best of its kind....

I'm not even sure what I want to say here, I often give this much thought before typing something up and posting it.... That's what's tricky about films like this.... One may get to the end and ask "what?!" and pick apart seemingly unfinished parts and be upset over unanswered questions ..... This is a film you just, have to, feel.... it's one of those, ya know? Its creators did SUCH A BEAUTIFUL job with this! Definitely feels as real as it gets! Every character delivers in that way! Gives found footage realness, in a sense... Heartbreaking and beautiful and wonderful and near perfect. Again, I say- when in reference to films of its kind.... I'm just gonna stop rambling now and end it saying- I watched the trailer afterwards (I dove right in while Prime scrolling, something I rarely do) and my heart swelled so much I felt like I'd explode with tears and emotions- sitting here staring at my phone covered in goosebumps..... and then I came here, so... Yup.

Some of y'all need to chill and just feel the horror...
24 April 2022
I'm just not sure when it is that people stopped remembering that we watch a horror movie...to be horrified ...for the experience..... I'm going through all these reviews that are full of upset over unanswered questions and questionable acting.

To that I'll say: it was the constant uncertainty and crazy acting that did it for me early on.

Considering the global pandemic and all that has come with it, I was sucked in and suffocating in dread 20 minutes in. I found myself looking around the room I was in, wondering how I would get out if I had to.

Sure, a lot more could have been done with certain aspects- I get that sometimes it makes for a better experience to get smart backstories and breakdowns and explanations... but this movie doesn't need to do that to horrify you.

You ever been hungry? I mean, really hungry? Now think about being hangry, suffering through withdrawal symptoms, slowly but surely losing your mind and your only food source is raw. Bloody. Maybe human. That alone has me creeped out.

This will also hit hard if you've experienced domestic hardships- especially where kids are involved.

That may be the part that got me the most.

So, yeah, pretty good horror movie for SURE.

It does its job.

BRAVO!!!
15 February 2020
Okay first of all: anyone who considers themselves a fan of Rob or this franchise should be so absolutely grateful for this! They didn't have to give us this! But there are those of us who just wanted to see them onscreen just one more time...we'd come to terms that it wouldn't happen but we wished... And then..it seemed as if our wish was coming true! Rumors swirled for ages until finally... the teaser trailer was released... and finally: we got one more movie with all three of The Devil's Rejects.... What more did you people expect!? This film gave us EVERYTHING we love about the Firefly saga! Beautiful visuals, amazing music, bewbs, and enough mf'ers to fill the Grand Canyon, it was fantastic!!! The kills were perfect and looked beautiful (I hate to say that but you know what I mean!).. They even find a way for us, as horror film lovers to enjoy the violence in a way that we didn't have to feel that level of guilt. So glad I bought this straight away and didn't waste money on a rental. I could go on and on about how much I loved it but I'll wrap this up saying that above all I APPRECIATE all that went into this... I felt it in every scene and I went into this ready to love it either way but not afraid to be disappointed. This did not disappoint. Thank you to all who made it happen and LONG LIVE CAPTAIN SPAULDING!!!!!!

A beautiful symphonic descent into madness
18 December 2019
This movie has left me shaken in such a way... It is a slow burn, sure, but I certainly wouldn't call it boring. There was only one time I found a scene to be too long/drawn out... The scenery... the soundtrack.... the heartbreak.. my Lord... I loved it one minute, never wanting it to end..and the next I'm so filled with anxiety as I'm reminded of what's really going on and realizing there will likely be no happy ending... Oh, and the baby fever! That beautiful child will give anyone baby fever, your heart just shreds for Sarah as you can understand how she snapped...

I'm annoyed at you people....
25 June 2019
What do y'all really expect after like 100 years of creating horror movies?? I'm getting real tired of these negative nancies... No, it wasn't amazing but some of the things that get called amazing nowadays and actually make big box office bucks aren't this good. I'm not mad at the acting. The movie had so much heart. I really felt like they were a family. I liked the way that there were so many villains. The urban legend aspect was delightful. It was so relatable in so many ways. Were the effects great? God no... Could there have been some help along the way with plot holes and such? Kind of... But for what it was, I loved it and I can't wait to show it to my daughter who's beginning to find her love for horror.

I loved it, I loved it, I LOVED IT!!!

Watch it. I won't even go into all the reasons why right now because frankly, there are too many..and I'm still reeling from it. My only real criticism is that there were a few unanswered questions that I feel, had they been explained even a little would've made for an even better movie... But man... Just.... Watch it.

What Men Want (2019)

Okay, calm down people...
17 February 2019
Alright, I need to start this out keeping it real: Yes, this movie can be cringey at times, absolutely. However, it was still a great time. If you want something poignant, heartfelt and wonderful-this isn't what you're looking for. It does have a lot more heart though than a lot of these folks are giving it credit for. Those who are outraged that her character is a total a-hole: that is the point!! The point is, to take a total jerk and help them to transform into a better person while they embark on an absurd journey. It totally delivers there. For every not so great moment, there are several great ones to make up for it. I don't often prefer to spend my money on a full priced ticket unless it's horror or a guaranteed slam dunk but it was our Galentine's celebration and I found it to be worth it. If you're unsure, I recommend waiting for the discount theatre or dvd but don't count it out because some haven't seen Baby Boy and had no idea Taraji can cuss like a sailor! And don't cheat yourself out of the Brandon experience! He is fantastic! This may not be Oscar gold but it's a darn good time. Trust me, I wouldn't lead you astray.

Back it on up haters....
3 January 2019
Maaaaaan... okay.. I was just excited to see Kel back, so either way I was supporting this.. I can't believe it's been out so long and I'm just coming across it! My kids are still pretty young for it but still, I like to stay up on what the kids like (so many in my family).. These reviews are so mean! Come on! Yes it's corny and annoying at times, all of these shows are! Even the classics like Clarissa and All That annoyed me at times when I was a kid myself! But here's the thing...... It's actually funny... perhaps it's come a long way, I'm not sure.. I can honestly say though, my 31 year old self just laughed aloud at least four times in the last hour (there's a marathon on), I recommend this show! My only complaint is...... here I thought my family room was pretty cool... -sigh-

So, so bad....
16 October 2018
It's not all that often that I say a movie is just bad but this....this was one of the worst. I fell asleep the first time we tried watching it and I blamed a busy weekend and late night... Tonight I'm wide awake and fully disappointed. One thing that always lets me know I'm going to hate a movie is: I get halfway through and don't even know names of lead characters. If I don't know their name or care if they live or die, there's a real problem. Half the time we don't know if we're in the present or nine years ago... we don't know who is who to whom.. two hours we won't ever get back and I urge you to choose something else for movie night. (The acting was good though)

Emily, that looks painful...
14 October 2018
I'm so in love with this movie. I was enthralled with the trailer for several months and I've learned when my mother says a movie was "delicious"-it's going to be a great time... Boy was this ever a great time! The perfect blend of true heartbreak, twisted wtf'ness and campy comedy (which I did not expect!).. From the leading women to the children, the acting was great and just right... Anyone going out of their way to be negative about this film needs to lighten up-and this is coming from someone who tends to be incredibly overly critical about movies. As soon as it ended I looked to my husband and said "I would like this on dvd for my birthday please and thank you!!" and I don't just add anything to my collection!

An adorable yet depressing coming of age flick...
29 March 2018
I've decided to give this film a 6 for effort that was put forth. For the fantastic soundtrack. That's about it. While I haven't read the book, I have the feeling this is one of those cases that the book is better than the film. It's not that it was so awful, or that I hated it... but I do hate it when both the antagonist and protagonist are terribly unlikeable. By the end, I was too through with both Quentin and Margo, if that says anything. Again, not a terrible one overall... It's just that, I wish we could've gotten to know Angela much more... I guess I was expecting to have my heart beautifully ripped out The Fault In Our Stars style but this one leaves you feeling a little cheated... Basically I'm saying, it's not the worst but it certainly isn't the best either...

Better Watch Out (II) (2016)

What is up the arses of all these reviewers!?
22 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
While this movie has its flaws like any other in its genre... for one to say that it isn't exceptional is just ridiculous. Filmmakers drop hints in the beginning leading to the dreaded conclusion that we're dealing with a modern day Norman Bates. The beautiful, yet cold and just overbearing enough mother...the way she emasculates her husband at Christmastime lets us know we're to draw our own conclusions about what she's like the rest of the year. The womb machine... Yikes.. It's actually very sad when you think about it: having a mother like that, throw in some serious mental instability with a dash of spoiled privilege and you get our antagonist-a young boy driven to madness at the idea of losing the only person who shows him any affection. "You were never gonna let me go, were you..?" That poor girl's fate was sealed the moment she told that family she planned to move away... The acting is also very impressive... This movie is heartbreaking and terrifying on so many levels. For those saying "...it's not funny"... well no duh. There's nothing funny about people being lured to their deaths, their only crime being, they had the audacity to touch a psychopath's obsession (as Garrett learned). However, seeing said psychopath greeting carolers with hot chocolate all while horror lies on the other side of the door is kind of funny.. Seeing his petite frame dance around in a Christmas sweater...is kind of funny.. Being reminded that this monster is a baby every time his voice cracks...is also kind of funny. I'm impressed with the fact that I was still shaken a full 24 hours after watching this... It does its job, getting into one's head, making me second guess so many seemingly open and shut murder cases...wondering if we'd been duped by a Harry Houdini of getting out of things... And sure, Luke was infuriating, making the movie so difficult to watch at times.. but isn't that what we want in our horror villains..? Very rarely does a movie end leaving me staring at the screen wishing for more... I wanted to see some justice man!! However, I love and respect it for leaving us hanging. I love and respect it for basically reminding us to never stop hugging our kids and watch who we trust. Oh, and anyone who thinks this is too far fetched to be taken seriously has obviously never watched an episode of Killer Kids. These sort of atrocities have been happening for decades!
