Shaandaar (2015)
7/10
Shaandaar is a breeze of fresh air,A good change from the typical DDLJ kind of Romcoms
22 October 2015
So,I watched Shaandaar and surprisingly i quite enjoyed it..

It is completely a different kind of romcom,i have never watched such a weird insane romcom ever.Kudos to Vikas for at least trying something strange. The animation parts worked for me really well, the emotional bonding between the father-daughter duo Pankaj-Alia was top notch.Alia looked great and performed with great confidence, matched steps to step with Shahid while dance no. which is'nt that easy for most.Shahid is endearing, plays his part with very well.Shahid's sis Sanah Kapoor making debut with this film looks cute n charming and does well.

It is a fantasy romcom, has got a Disney films' feel attached to it..I was certainly in awe of the beautiful locations, grand sets and the way it has been shot.

But the 2nd half is'nt that good, too much silliness gets involved and the film does'nt proceeds where you would have wanted it to.

As far as box office is concerned,I am doubtful about its prospect. There were people walking out who did'nt quite liked it,though there were plenty of laughs heard but still it is a kind of movie which won't go with everyone. As the credits rolled out and Vikas bahl's name flashed as the director,i heard voices saying "Maaro isko, yahi hai"

Overall:3.5/5 stars from me..a good enough family watch.

This time literally:: Bhai Roxx
18 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Went to watch Bajrangi Bhaijaan yesterday in the noon show, occupancy was around 75% for my show.Let's begin: Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a story of an innocent naive UP guy settled in Delhi and his love for a little mute Pakistani girl which knows no limits. It is this love, his magnanimous spirit and some circumstances which leads Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi aka Bajrangi to take this girl to her parents in Pakistan.

The film starts off well with the scenes of little girl Shahida(named after "Shahid" Afridi) and her parents. She's taken to India with her mom to seek blessings for her in a much revered Dargah. On their return to Pakistan, the little girl somehow manages to miss the train. And there she is all alone, with no voice of her, lost in an alien country.

Arrives our Bhai, who is greeted with whistles and claps as usual. After clicking few selfies,Bajrangi meets the little girl Shahida who he now calls Munni(bhai still in Dabangg mode). He decides to take her home,on their way Bajrangi confronts some passengers in the bus who are greatly interested in knowing his back story,so bajrangi begins reciting his back story. This part really dragged on,full of forced comedy and irritated me after a point. The romantic part of salman and kareena(her cheeks appeared too pink) is a bit half baked one. There are funny scenes in this half though, like the one in which Munni is found grabbing a chicken leg or the one where she starts dancing seeing Pak win over India(quite goofy though, they shown the same match at the beginning of the film too). Then there are quite a few emotional ones too,Munni(played by Harshali Malhotra) and Bajrangi share a cracking chemistry. The little girl is sure to win hearts just by her cuteness.Music is strictly average and nowhere in comparison to salman's last few blockbusters.Tu chahiye,Chicken song(plain awful, was'nt required at all) does'nt work.First half was above average for me,though it ends quite well.

Second half is all about Bajrangi's hardship, his journey to take Munni to Pakistan without passport,Visa crossing border beneath the boundary wires.Kabir Khan has enjoyed quite a few cinematic liberties but most of them can be overlooked.Second half is much better than the first. The pace improves which was a bit sluggish throughout the first half,Salman's looks' improves,he now dons a rugged look which suits him much more than the clean shave one and last but not the least, this half has Nawazuddin Siddique! Believe me,he got the similar applause as was received by Salman. And when he joins Bajrangi and munni, they create some of the most memorable moments of the film.Bhar do jholi song works well.Last 45 min. of the film are really high on emotional quotient. You feel for Bajrangi when he gets bashed by the police,in fact there was stun silence in the theatre which proves the audience were quite moved. The climax is one of the best I have witnessed in recent times, last few scenes were too poignant for me to handle. And yes Bajrangi Bhaijaan made me shed few tears. And I loved the song Tu Jo Mila sung by my fav. KK which plays at the end of the film.

On the whole Bajrangi Bhaijaan is Salman's best film in years and it deserves to be lauded, audience were quite happy film which makes me to say without any doubt that at the box office Bajrangi Bhaijaan should cross Dhoom 3,though surpassing PK would prove difficult. And if it sustains well on the weekdays, then it could well be Salman's first 300crs grosser.

Overall it's a 3.75/5 from my side!

Bakshy,Byomkesh Bakshy!! Bollywood's answer to Sherlock.
5 April 2015
So watched one hell of a movie today!!…It is known as Detective Byomkesh Bakshy.. Dibakar-Sushant,kudos to you both ..U guys have just nailed it.. Awesome, kick ass, chilling, edge of the seat mystery thriller.. Calcutta has never looked so damn gorgeous on screen ever before, brilliant cinematography. The film manages to keep you guessing with the next dialog spoken till the very end of the film, such is the narrative. You just can't afford to divert your mind for a moment or you will lose something significant. Background music specially in the 2nd half of the film is kick ass n supports the film very well. And what can I say about the villain, definitely one of the most menacing I have seen in years now.Now I know why this role was presented to aamir coz it definitely had the potential. I loved the climax too,it is a bit predictable but one you can relish for a long time. I have finished watching this film for about 5hrs now,but still I can't get over it coz this film stays with you. I am going with 4 stars. Definitely the best for me this year!! I will be highly anticipating its sequel whenever it will be announced. If you can focus your mind for 150min.,you will love this

******

As far as box office aspects of DBB are concerned,I doubt it will be a success. The film demands probably too much from your side.People who go to watch mostly light hearted films will come out disappointed.I watched the film in the morning show with only 7 people in the entire theatre!!!

Baby (I) (2015)
10/10
BABY is thoroughly engaging, thrilling and gripping but won't blow you off!
23 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
BABY Review:: Thoroughly Engaging but won't blow you off!!

Finally watched my most anticipated film of the year: BABY directed by Neeraj Pandey. And it was my most awaited film for a reason as the same director had given us two exceptional films in A Wednesday and Special 26.Both these films were engaging, thrilling and had a gripping narrative that will hook you through the entire duration. So does BABY succeeds in doing so? Let's find out!

BABY starts off with a bang with few brilliantly choreographed action scenes and never loses pace throughout the first half or I should say the entire length.Baddies make a menacing introduction through some brilliant dialogues.Akshay's scenes with Madhurima are well shot and adequately timed, will not make you impatient for the main story.First half has some kickass dialogues but the story wavers and is'nt clear as to what's going with the introduction of so many characters. However there are some scenes that standout such as Akshay interrogating Taufeeq,Maulana's intro. Second half begins briskly with Tapsee and Akki in nepal,Tapsee shines in her limited role.Definitely one of the best moments of the film. The pace is never down, the thrills are there in almost every single frame.Anupam Kher enters the film in the second half and provides much needed comic relief.Akshay delivers one of his best performances, right from the first scene his absolutely brilliant but what let me down is the climax, though most critics have liked it.It seem rushed and things went too easily their way.If you have watched Argo, you will be left a tad disappointed with the climax. It is weaker in comparison and has every chances to leave you upset. It will be predictable for you.SPOILER***:I could'nt understand why the Saudi Police officer let them fly off when he was shown inspecting so seriously! Overall a must watch as these kind of films are not made everyday in bollywood,it will keep you engaged and hooked at the edge of your seat throughout but a better climax would have made it a great film.Sometimes keeping too high expectations results in you leaving a bit disappointed .Definitely it is'nt Neeraj's best work.I will rate it less than A Wednesday and Special 26.

I am going with 3.50/5

POSITIVES: Akshay is fantastic throughout.one of his best performances. Great support cast in Danny,Tapsee,Anupam and Rana. Villains does geat job. Action scenes are realistic, one of the best in a bollywood film. Beautiful locales and great cinematography.

NEGATIVES: Story is unidirectional and is'nt multi layered. Climax is a letdown if you have seen Argo. No major twists,it's quite predictable.

It's Entertainment!!!!!!!
4 April 2014
Went to watch Captain America:The Winter Soldier but some how we missed the show and so decided to catch Main Tera Hero instead...here is what I experienced:

STORY:I won't tell you the story here and it is a David dhawan film so please leave your brains at home and just chill, the story has nothing new.

DIRECTION:David Dhawan steers this ship well and supplies us with constant laughs throughout. The first half is the build up of Varun's character while the second half is very funny.

MUSIC:MTH has couple of good tracks in "Palat:tera hero" and "besharmi ki height".Background score is good.

PERFORMANCES:When it is a comedy film,it is the responsibility of its main hero to carry it,and this is what Varun does fantastically. He dances superb, bashes the goons, loves his heroine and shows brilliant comic timing.Ileana looks pretty but i doubt her acting skills.Arunodoy Singh and Rajpal Yadav are very funny and play their roles well.Nargis looks sexy but does'nt knows acting.Anupam Kher and Saurabh Shukla are real fun.

CONCLUSION:All in all MTH is an entertaining film,a good comedy film after sometime. It is better than Phata Poster Nikhla Hero and Chashmebaddoor. 6/10 from me...

Jai Ho (2014)
6/10
Salman Ki "Jai Ho"
25 January 2014
Jai Ho is a remake of 2006 telugu film Stalin.Salman returns to the screen after 13 months, longest gap between his two films ever in his career. So expectations were sky high from this film. Also the film is based on a social issue, which is one of the concerns of todays people in India. So does it live up to its expectations, lets find out: Direction and Cinematography:Sohail Khan did'nt changed much from the telugu film Stalin(i have also watched that),which reduced his workload. But still he does an OK job with Jai Ho and you never loose your grip from the film apart from few here and there moments.Jai Ho is shot in mumbai, and the locations used are good. The camera work is good. The production design is not at par with films like Ek Tha Tiger and Dhoom 3 but is also not bad.

Performances:Salman Khan does'nt performs Jai Agnihotri,he lives his character on the screen. He is just brilliant in the action scenes.tabbu supports Salman well. She is very good.Other actors like Yash Tonk and Ashmit Patel supports him as well.Pulkit Samrat (the fukrey star) is good as a cop.Daisy Shah does'nt looks pretty but dances well, she does an OK job.Danny is good as villain.Sana Khan is OK as spoiled girl,Mahesh Manjrekar is also good.Haroon Qazi (Danny's son in the film) looks muscular and gives good screen presence.

Music:Music of Jai Ho is pretty average.Sajid Wajid are not able to repeat their work of Dabangg and Dabangg 2.Baaki sab first class and Photocopy are catchy, while Tumko to aana hi tha is the best in the album.

POSITIVES:The biggest plus point of Jai Ho is its action sequences which are well build up and Salman excels in those. He also roars and bites like a tiger which is a fresh concept i think. Some comedy is also there in the film which will be liked by the audience for sure. The kid Naman is excellent in his role. The simplistic and noble storyline will be very much liked and some small instances of social work will be liked.

NEGATIVES:The noble storyline will be liked no doubt but can also be hated because it will not provide that much entertainment which you are used to see in films like Wanted and Dabangg. Also Daisy Shah's introduction dance sequence is total waste off.Music may not be liked by many.

So on the whole Jai Ho is a typical salman film mixed with some social elements. My rating:6/10

Dhoom 3 (2013)
5/10
Dhoom 3 lacks the "DHOOM" essence
17 January 2014
I went to watch Dhoom 3 with very high hopes but returned with a confused mind. I won't tell you the story here.

Direction and Cinematography: Dhoom 3 is shot in beautiful locales of Chicago, and the camera-work is top notch. This is one of the high points of Dhoom 3.Set in the city of tall buildings, the locations are definitely the eye catcher.Vijay Krishna Acharya,i would say he has disappointed again after his disaster film Tashan. It is director's responsibility to remove the loopholes in the film, and Dhoom 3 has many of those.

Performances: Aamir Khan is brilliant as Sahir,he is the heart of the film. You can watch this film just for Aamir. He acquires almost 90% of the screen space.Katrina is good in the limited scope she has.Abhishek and Uday Chopra are OK but have hardly anything to do.

Music: Pritam has done a good job.Malang and Kamli are my favorites and are very well shot too.The title song could have been better.Bande hai hum uske track is an emotional one.

NEGATIVES: Dhoom 3 suffers because of some over the top sequences like bike turning into the boat and the introduction scene of Abhishek and Uday which is a very poor action scene, which is not expected if you are making a high quality film in 2013.Also the plot has many loopholes.Neither time Aamir is shown looting the bank, only the escape sequences are shown.

POSITIVES: Dhoom 3 is watchable only because of Aamir's acting and high adrenaline chases. Also the emotional twist in the film is the high point of the film.

I am going with 5/10,it does'nt has that robbery sequences that we use to see in Dhoom and Dhoom 2...
