Cold Call (2001)
The Greatest Student Film EVER!!!
Although "Cold Call" is only 14 minutes long, it is the kernel a what could be a quite memorable feature length film. I know that I have seen many full length romantic comedies that did not contain as much plot as this brief student film. I believe that Putschoegl will direct many great films in his career, and I can't wait to see "Window Theory". To be honest, "Cold Call"'s biggest flaw is its cheesy script, but even that is made wonderful by excellent direction. The rather lame story is brought to life by Putschoegl's camera angles, editing, and use of gumbi-like actors that he molded to his whim. If you get the chance to view this film on DVD, you will be treated to five commentary tracks and some excellent special features, including a German film that features the acting "talent" of Antony Stiglich.
