A Tale of Two Peters (2010)
Not Black and White, but Green is Good!
I found this silent albeit short film to be both entertaining and thought-provoking. It occurred to me that it would make a good film to highlight events related to Earth Day Celebratrons or Waste Reduction Week, etc. The film is premised on the juxtaposition of two contrasting life-styles played out side by side ... one grounded in a life-style of unconscious or unconcerned consumption and the other founded on conscientiously and consciously limited consumption. The message in the film is clear, despite it's short length. We often live our lives without conscious thought, planning or action, leading to a world of mass waste generation all in the name of convenience which results from our frenzied and sense of entitlement lifestyles. But if we can just slow down our lives a little bit to smell the roses, we might regain our sanity and our/planetary health. As I said, it would make a great film to begin a environmental or social conscious raising event! It is a movie with both a message and a purpose!
The Coming (2009)
A Surprisingly Interesting Film
I was in the mood for a bit of a nail-biter of a film, and I came across this one while visiting you-tube. I was part way through watching it and paused it to make a tea. Although I had been enjoying the movie, I became curious as to other's thoughts and started reading the site's comments' section; it was then that I came to realize this movie is in fact a low budget film produce produced by someone who appeared to be a relative newbie to film-making, or at least that was the case when it came out in 2009. That said, I continued to watch this film with this fact in mind, which left me quite impresses, given what I presume were financial limits during filmmaking and an unknown cast. I am looking forward to finding and watching other films by this gentleman, and in seeing his career grow. I would also like to see if there is more out there by the various actors: ) So sit down and enjoy this thought-provoking and creatively crafted film.
