  • Meh. It's nice to have another Accountant movie...just wish it was better.

The Accountant, like pizza, is decent even when mediocre. Unfortunately, like most sequels, this doesn't measure up to the original. The story and characters are more bland and vague where they shouldn't be, and more detailed and defined where it doesn't really help. Frankly, it turned out more like a generic TV action movie. More of the same, but not as good. Bad guys get killed, but the reasons are far more generic and vague. The story and plausibility took a big hit. Not all the action sequences works as well as the last one. They tried to me more jokey here, but only about half land. But, given the sad state of movies these days, I don't mind supporting a "noble" effort.

  • A noble failure

This is kind of a farcical, black comedy. The characters have some life to them, but little depth or context It is reminiscent of a Fargo type story with the banal, the ordinary, sharing the story with extreme violence.

Because of the substantial lack of EARNED back story, most of the characters flat. Surprisingly, Ed Harris' new family dynamic comes across as flat and hollow. Jennifer Coolidge and Lewis Pullman steal the show with their performances. Bill Murray gets honorable mention...because he's Bill Murray, and I'd watch him read the dictionary. But, he's not that funny here, and is trying to play a straight character...who is put into black comedy situations.

If you're going to see a "Bill Murray movie" then you're going to be disappointed on many levels. But, it's not a complete waste. Although, I'm not sure it was worth his gonzo promotion campaign that included eating super hot chicken wings on First We Feast (although that interview was pretty good).

  • Completely overrated, but not bad.

It's not bad, but not nearly as good as all the critics think. It is actually an ad campaign for Tokyo toilets that turned into a movie. It's basically "Zen and the art of toilet maintenance." There isn't any character development. It's a "slice of life" type movie. It's kind of a romanticized parable about being happy in your work, no matter what it is...and trying to squeeze whatever you can out of each day. Of course, they never really show the awful, difficult, or tedious parts of being a toilet cleaner. They rarely do with stories about manual labor. It got a bit tedious, but they cheat and use some really good music to good effect. The lead did a pretty good job, especially at the end scene.
