Road House (2024)
Where do I Start
First ten minutes was promising and then it went downhill very quickly. I was starting to think when the film was offering. Was it a drama, comedy or, what I think, a comedy drama. The thing that completely spoilt the film was the introduction of Connor McGreager, seemingly intent to base the start of his acting career on a comedy act that was suffering from a predicament in the lower regions. I won't mention the fact that I doubt if anyone knew what he was actually saying ninety per cent of the time. This is my first review of a film in years but I felt I would have to make an exception due to the poor quality and unnecessary remake of a classic.
American Grit (2016)
Season 1 watchable - Season 2 not so much
Even though I'm English, I'm well used to watching cheesy over the top hugging TV reality shows. Season 1 had serious cadre and competitors who were put through their paces. It's always rewarding watching top notch athletes get beat by middle aged females (Race Across the World being a prime example). Season 2, from the offset told us that these contestants were there for a fun time. Even the military cadre weren't convincing. I'm ex-army so I have my doubts. This season wasn't anything physical but relied entirely on beach ball games. Hopefully, if they make another series (which I doubt), it'll be better, with real people (not actors) etc.
